Families and Communities grow together through 4-H! 🍀 Congratulations Chance Evenson this well deserved acknowledgement! You make our Flathead 4-H family proud! 🙌🍀🤩

Inspired by a dedicated 4‑H mentor who invested his time and heart in young people, Chance Evenson learned early what it means to give back. Today, Chance continues that legacy — volunteering with 4‑H for nearly two decades, plus coaching youth softball and wrestling in Montana’s Flathead Valley.

“Chance embodies the spirit of volunteerism,” says one of his five nominators. “He has a rare ability to meet kids where they are, inspire them to push beyond their limits, and help them believe in themselves.”

For his dedication to building youth confidence, resilience and community, Chance was named one of our 2025 Volunteers of the Year.

Learning by doing! 🍀

Here at Loon Lake 4-H Camp we hosted a collaborative hands-on presentation by Flathead County Extension and Flathead Conservation District through the FVCC’s Continuing Education program. Participants learned so much from so many wonderful guest speakers! From specific loon calls to tree diseases, they became equipped to be better stewards of their lands. Featured topics included Landowner Fire Preparedness, Living in the Forest, Living by Water, Living with Wildlife, Soil and Pasture Health, and Noxious W**d Identification.

We were so happy to be able to invite members of the Flathead community to learn and take home resources from these great organizations. Thank you for coming to our camp! We hope to see you again soon! 💪🍀🤗

With one last pre-season service project, we congratulate the new Invasive Species Coordinator, Kylie, on her new role with Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation! For the second year in a row, the BMWF crew has done targeted invasive w**d spot spraying at camp, serving the dual purpose of training their crew while helping us mitigate w**ds throughout our 15 acre property.

We are seeing a huge impact here at camp due to their service. Thank you BMWF! 🍀

We are excited to welcome the new 4-H Sports Fishing Project to Flathead 4-H! 🍀🎣

Utilizing funds raised during last year’s Great Fish Community Challenge, Flathead 4-H Foundation is thrilled to support this expanded 4-H project offering. Their inaugural event took place at Loon Lake 4-H Camp, and expert instruction was provided by our new friends from the Montana Kayak Academy. The kids received an educational and engaging demonstration on canoeing and water safety, then got to practice their new skills while having fun on the lake!

We are so excited to be able to collaborate with another nonprofit doing great work in the Flathead Valley. Thank you to the Whitefish Community Foundation for the opportunity to raise funds and create valuable new partnerships through the Great Fish Community Challenge.

Eager to see 4-H youth grow in their Sport Fishing Project here at Loon Lake 4-H Camp and beyond!

We were honored to be awarded a grant last spring from Flathead Electric Co-op's Round-up for Safety toward electrical upgrades in our cabins!

Roundup for Safety is a community life safety program sponsored by the Co-op and voluntarily funded by members who “round up” their monthly electric bill to the nearest dollar. The extra money provides grant funds for locally based nonprofit safety projects. Since 1997, the Roundup for Safety program has awarded more than $5M in support of over 1,400 community safety projects.

With the generous funds, we were able to add new wired smoke and carbon monoxide combo detectors, which are an important safety device to pair with the installation of the new wall heaters in the cabins.

Thank you Electric Cooperative, Inc. for helping us make the best better at our Loon Lake 4-H Camp! 🍀

Progress continues on the Loon Lake 4-H Camp Pavilion Project!

To date, $50,375 has been raised toward our $150,000 goal, including $15,000 in seed funding from the Flathead 4-H Foundation and $35,375 contributed by early supporters.

We want to say a sincere thank you to those who have stepped in early to help move this project forward... H2 Orthodontics joins the campaign as a Hands Builder and Missoula County 4-H who contributed a Health Builder level gift on behalf of their youth who join us at camp every summer!

The new pavilion will give 4-H youth from across NW Montana a covered outdoor space for workshops, evening programs, dances and and other fun camp activities, even when the weather doesn’t cooperate!

This pavilion is being built the same way camp itself was built, through a community effort. Local businesses, volunteers, families, and friends of 4-H all contributing in ways that make sense for them.

There is still work to do, and there is room for others to be part of it. If you’ve been considering a gift or sponsorship, now is a great time to step in!

Every contribution helps create a space that will serve 4-H youth for years to come! 🍀

We’re off to a strong start on the Loon Lake 4-H Camp Pavilion!

To date, $43,375 has been raised toward our $150,000 goal, including $15,000 in seed funding from the Flathead 4-H Foundation and $28,375 contributed by early supporters.

We want to say a sincere thank you to those who have stepped in early to help move this project forward. We want to thank Glacier Precast Concrete for an early Health Builder Sponsorship level gift to the project. Your support is already taking shape out at camp!

The new pavilion will give 4-H youth a covered outdoor space for workshops, evening programs, dances and and other fun camp activities, even when the weather doesn’t cooperate!

This pavilion is being built the same way camp itself was built, through a community effort. Local businesses, volunteers, families, and friends of 4-H all contributing in ways that make sense for them.

There is still work to do and room for many others to be part of this exciting effort. If you’ve been considering a gift or sponsorship, now is a great time to step in! Every contribution helps create a space that will serve 4-H youth for years to come!
