💚🐻💚 Happy Higgy Friends Friday! Today we are featuring our Austin, Texas group with one of our scoli boys! Higgy Mom Lauren and Jackson run this group. You can reach them at [email protected].

My name is Lauren, and my son is Jackson. Together, we lead the Austin, TX Higgy Friends group. Jackson's scoliosis was discovered at his well-check exam in May 2025. Shortly after, it was confirmed that he had juvenile idiopathic scoliosis with 21- and 29-degree curvatures. We were quickly seen by the best in Austin and Jackson received his Rigo Cheneau brace in September the same year. Jackson has taken on this new journey with such grace and I am so proud of him for wearing his brace 18+ hours a day. We are so happy to have found Higgy Bears and hope that by leading this local group, we will be able to help and encourage others with the same diagnosis find a belonging and build a strong community.

Introducing Beyond The Curve, a brand-new podcast from Scoliosis Support & Research, exploring the people, stories and experiences behind scoliosis.

Hosted by our amazing community member Grace Winterburn, the series will feature honest conversations about life with scoliosis, from treatment and surgery to confidence, body image, fitness, work, relationships and everything in between.

We’re kicking things off with four very special episodes, featuring some brilliant guests with very different experiences and perspectives.

The zooms are really fun. I run them and play games with the kids (blooket is the website we use.) We give each other tips and share stories. No pressure to talk- it's very laid back. The kids really love it.
