Healthy House For Women

Healthy House For Women For all women to be safe, sober & self-sufficient
www.healthyhouseforwomen.org We provide a safe house that has sufficient room to live and grow.

We provide all amenities in the way of furniture, utilities, bedding, linens, cable TV and WiFi services. Our staff oversee the operations of the home and the needs of our residents. From enforcing rules to having heart to heart conversations, they are dedicated to helping our residents focus on their recovery as they move forward with their lives. Each resident has individual needs and we strive

to ensure those needs are met, often connecting her with sister agencies and organizations to broaden the horizon of the support available to her. Whether it's budgeting, parenting, domestic violence prevention, counseling, finding permanent housing, life skills, job placement, vehicle purchase, etc., we do our best to provide our residents with the very best resources.

"I never thought I’d be able to get my life back, let alone to the extent I have."

Audrey recently celebrated 26 months clean, and her journey is a powerful reminder that with the right support, women can rebuild and reimagine their lives!

We took some time today to clean out our Healthy House car — and honestly, it felt really good. There’s something fulfilling about taking care of the things that help take care of us. It might seem small, but in recovery, these little wins matter.

Keeping our spaces clean, organized, and respected is just one way we show up for ourselves now. It’s not just about the car — it’s about growth, responsibility, and feeling proud of how far we’ve come. 💪💖

Last Friday, we said goodbye (for now!) to someone incredibly special — our house manager, Imani, who just celebrated one full year with Healthy House. 🌟

Imani has been more than just a manager — she’s been a mentor, a role model, a listening ear, and a steady presence for so many women walking the path of recovery. Her strength, patience, and heart have left a lasting mark on this house, and she’s helped shape a supportive space where healing truly happens.

While we were sad to see her go, we’re also SO excited for her next steps in life. Watching her grow and now move forward reminds all of us of what’s possible when we stay committed to the journey.

Imani, thank you for everything you’ve poured into this home and this community. You’ve helped lay the foundation for others to continue growing and thriving. 💐💫

Let’s keep showing up for one another — and for ourselves — Drop a Thank you in the comments for all the work she completed during her time with us!

Recently, some of the incredible women from Healthy House for Women in Kalamazoo, alongside a few of our dedicated staff, had the privilege of attending the Recovery Fair right here in Kalamazoo—and what a powerful experience it was!

We shared our mission, connected with other recovery warriors, and had real conversations about what it means to heal in a supportive, sober living environment.

At our table, we offered more than just brochures—we offered hope.

🩷 Hope for women looking for a new start.

🩷 Hope for families ready to heal.

🩷 Hope that recovery is not only possible, but transformational.

To everyone who stopped by to ask questions, share stories, or just say hello—thank you. You reminded us why we do what we do.

If you or someone you know is looking for a safe, structured, and empowering place to begin their recovery journey, Healthy House is here.

Over the summer, at one of Healthy House’s Creative Workshops, both residents and staff rolled up their sleeves and tried something brand new: sublimation printing to design custom cups! 🙌

It was a first for everyone—but with lots of laughs, creativity, and a little trial and error, everyone walked away with a one-of-a-kind cup and a deeper sense of connection.

✨ In recovery, every new experience is a chance to grow—and when we create together, we heal together. Watching women support each other through the process (even when the designs didn’t come out perfect!) was a beautiful reminder of the power of community.

Don’t forget to follow along to stay in the loop with all the amazing things happening at Healthy House!

At Healthy House, we support women on their recovery journeys by creating a safe, stable environment where healing can happen. Whether it’s through art, community, accountability, or simply having a place to rest — every piece matters.

🔎 Did you know?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), people who engage in long-term recovery support — like safe housing and peer connection — are significantly more likely to maintain sobriety and improve their overall quality of life.

Recovery isn’t a straight path, and no one should have to walk it alone. That’s why we’re here.

Recently, some of the women at Healthy House spent time working on glass art take-home kits from Glass Art Kalamazoo.

It wasn’t about making perfect pieces — it was about showing up, creating something with their hands, and finding a little calm in the process. For many, recovery is just like that: small steps, quiet moments, and putting things back together one piece at a time.

We’re grateful to Glass Art Kalamazoo for making space for this kind of healing through creativity.

👉 If you'd like to support programs like this — whether through donations, partnerships, or volunteering — reach out to us. Together, we can keep creating spaces for hope, healing, and growth.

We love celebrating the stories of our former residents, like Audrey. Audrey spent 16 months at Healthy House and was able to move out an back in with her family about 9 months ago.

We asked Audrey to share some of her experiences with us and here's what she said:

"I spent 16 months in Healthy House, and it completely changed my life. I’ve tried to get clean many times, and nothing ever stuck. This was my first time trying sober living, and I wish I would’ve done it sooner. Healthy House really tries to prepare you for living a clean, sober, independent life where your recovery comes first."

Since moving out, Audrey has built a great life!

"I’ve been out of Healthy House for about 9 months. My life is amazing! I have 26 months clean. I’m working as a vet assistant again. I bought a car. I’ve restored all my relationships with my family, who fully trust me again. I’m in the best relationship—the one I’ve spent my whole adult life dreaming about. I never thought I’d be able to get my life back, let alone to the extent I have."

We're so proud of Audrey and so blessed to have been part of her story! Give her some love in the comments!
