The Kalamazoo County Senior Expo is happening today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This free event brings together a wide range of resources for older adults, caregivers, and families, including information about home health care, senior housing, caregiver support, Medicare and Medicaid assistance, home improvement services, community programs, and more.

Flu shots will also be available at the event. If you plan to get one, bring your insurance card.

If you or someone you know could benefit from learning more about local services and support, this is a great opportunity to connect with organizations serving older adults throughout Kalamazoo County.

We’re excited to welcome our newest 988 Call Specialists based in Midland, Michigan!

This week, our team had the opportunity to participate in ASIST (Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training) alongside local community partners. Trainings like ASIST help strengthen the skills, relationships, and shared commitment that make effective crisis response possible.

We’re especially grateful to Barb Smith and the Su***de Resource & Response Network for their partnership and support as we continue building and strengthening the 988 network in the Midland region.

Every new connection helps create a stronger community of care. Together, we’re making sure more people have someone to turn to when they need support most. 💙

We wish to thank all volunteers, sponsors, staff, board members, organizations, and community members that planned to participate in our 13th Annual Su***de Prevention Walk this past Saturday. We are disappointed we had to make a weather-related cancellation, but the safety of our community is our priority.

Every year hundreds of hours are spent planning this well-loved event to support our crisis services in the community. Unfortunately, rescheduling would be incredibly difficult and expensive, taking from much-needed funds reserved for our programs and services. Unfortunately, this means we are unable to reschedule.

So, what do we do now? We walk!

Join Gryphon Place for a virtual 5K in honor of the Su***de Prevention Walk. We’d love to see your photos! Tag us in a post or story, or send them to us in a direct message by Wednesday, September 30. If you’re on Facebook, you can also share a photo in the comments below.

We’ll announce the winner on Monday, October 5!

Another way you can support is through our Su***de Prevention Month fundraiser on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/donate/1956485421696829/, which also runs until September 30th.

If you were registered for the walk, but have not picked up your t-shirt, you can pick it up at our CORRE Center (505 S. Park Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007) Monday through Friday, between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm.

We will be back better than ever next year for the 14th Annual Su***de Prevention Walk, tentatively planned for Saturday, September 18th, 2027. We are manifesting a beautiful Saturday morning to walk alongside our community! Thank you again for your support.

💛 IMPORTANT EVENT UPDATE

Due to weather-related safety concerns, today’s Su***de Prevention Walk has been canceled. The safety of our participants, volunteers, and staff is our top priority.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who registered, volunteered, sponsored, donated, and helped us prepare for this event. We are disappointed that we won’t be able to come together today, but your support of su***de prevention in our community means so much to us.

If you haven’t picked up your Su***de Prevention Walk T-shirt yet, you can stop by our Training and Admin Center today from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to pick it up.
