Join us June 20th from 10am-12pm (people paddling on the river begin at 9am) for the Third Annual Kalamazoo River Cleanup! We are thrilled to be working in partnership with the Rotary Club of Kalamazoo and the Kalamazoo Conservation District to put together this big community effort. Together, we're working to clean up the Kalamazoo River watershed in Kalamazoo, Parchment, and Comstock. By participating, volunteers demonstrate the power of collective action in stewarding our water resources. There are many ways to participate; for families, avid river paddlers and fishermen, and people who love to wade in creeks.

⭐️All ages are welcome to participate in this family-friendly event. For younger kids the “walking on shore” choice is the best option for safety.

⭐️Join us for the after-party celebration from 12-2pm with music, food and family fun.

🌿Join us for Mindfulness on the Marsh June 28th from 12-3pm. This will be a quiet Kanoe the Kazoo paddle event. Travel through the peaceful and serene Ottawa Marsh, encountering several species of birds and natural flora. Participants are encouraged to use this opportunity to ground in nature, through a gently led Mindfulness exercise. Kalamazoo River Watershed experts including KRWC, WaterTrail Ventures, LLC and Allegan Conservation District will be guiding this paddle. This paddle is recommended for intermediate paddlers, folks who don’t mind dirt, and want to experience a deep connection to the environment. This will be a small paddle with limited space available. Due to the nature of this paddle, paddlers must be 14+ to participate. Bring your own boat or rent one from WaterTrail Ventures. All boat rentals must be purchased through WaterTrail Ventures; guests must secure payment for vessels prior to launch date. For more information about registration and vessel booking, visit our website (click the link in our bio to visit our website). If cost is a barrier for you, reach out to [email protected].

Last week KRWC joined the Kalamazoo River Alliance in the removal of debris at the old railroad bridge upstream of Mayor’s Riverfront Park in Kalamazoo. Members of Kalamazoo Paddle Club also took time to remove debris from this area. We would like to extend our gratitude for both of these efforts. The care this community holds for the Kalamazoo River does not go without notice-- Thank you to Bryan, Cam, Kim & Ryan for your time and labor!

Please continue to take caution when passing through this stretch of the river as there is still fallen debris blocking many of the bays. If you are traveling downstream towards Mayor’s, take caution when approaching the old railroad bridge and go through the right bay.

We will continue to update you as we seek clean-up and safety solutions. We know that this is a long-standing issue, and we will continue to work with partners to help find both short- and long-term fixes.
