Traveling along the Oregon coast and in Seal Rock, there is a bakery called The Chubby Lil Mermaid. Of course we stopped!

Have to cancel our Muskegon swim planned for Sunday. Toxic algae bloom in the lake. 🤮

I may plan something at the big lake down south. Stand by.

Calling all Chubby Mermaids and Friends! We are doing a test swim this Sunday, August 23 at 9am in Muskegon. We want to see what the water and distance is like there as we scout places to host events. We will be at Harbor Towne Beach at 3315 Fulton Ave. in Muskegon. There is a parking lot right there. We are planning to arrive by 9am with a 9:30am start time for the swim. We will be swimming directly across the lake to Budd's Marina. It is 3.3 miles. We will have a motorized boat support, plus at least 2 kayaks to provide support/visibility for safety. This is a "swim at your own risk" event and ask that you be trained to swim this distance if you plan to join. After, we will be enjoying a cookout at Budd's Marina. If you plan to join us, please let us know by Friday so we can plan accordingly.

Beach where we will start and parking lot are highlighted in pink. You will need to pay for parking and we will provide transport back from marina.

Liz Healy and I are on the long road home after a great adventure! We traveled to Bayfield, WI to take part in the famous Point to La Pointe Open Water Swim and it did not disappoint!

The race organizers and volunteer staff were amazing, the course was lined with kayakers and paddle boarders providing a swimming lane the entire 2.1 miles, buoys pointed the way and a smoke signal brought us home to Madeline Island where more volunteers waist deep in water greeted us, hugged us, helped us take off fins and unzipped our wetsuits. More volunteers helped us get our dry bags that had been transported over, and there were large changing tents for the swimmers.

We met so many amazing people and spread the joy of our group. We have people from MN, WI and TX who want to join our movement of joyful, supportive Chubby Mermaids! Even got a FB message this morning from one of the volunteers that brought happy tears to my eyes!

Keep those tails up friends!

Ok Mermaids and friends! Time to get back in the water! We still have swims to prepare for!

This Sunday, we will do a swim at Mermaid Aimee’s house on Gull Lake at 9 am. PM for address if you don’t have it. Let us know if you are coming so we know who to look for. Or meet up at the Oakland Drive park and ride at 8:30 to carpool over!

Please note, water is probably warm enough for no wetsuit.
