Urban Alliance was founded in Kalamazoo, Mich., in 1999 with the mission to build meaningful relationships and connections with the area’s marginalized community members. After relentlessly pounding the pavement, Urban Alliance received its non-profit status in 2006 and has worked to expand its relationships and capabilities ever since. The organization, or movement as it is seen by team members, provides a vital purpose, creating opportunities for marginalized individuals to embrace their talents and potentials, learn skills, gain confidence, and be seen. Urban Alliance also actively strives to educate and transform mainstream society, shifting the narrative and perception of who is deemed as valuable.

Over the summer, our Street Outreach team showed up for our community in a BIG way!

Led by Street Outreach Coordinator Jeff Stephens, this group of dedicated volunteers spent countless hours bringing love to our neighborhood. They:

đź‘‹ Engaged with more than 2,000 people.
đź’§ Distributed 1,500 bottles of water.
🌭 Served 504 hot dogs.
🍦 Distributed 1,020 popsicles.
🌮 Served 750 tacos.
🌟 Provided 120 referrals to local programs and resources.

Each interaction creates an opportunity for conversation, encouragement, relationship-building, connection, and spreading of kindness in our community.

Looking for something to do this weekend and still need your flu vaccine? The Kalamazoo County Health & Community Services - HCS is hosting a Clinic and Resource Fair this Saturday, October 17 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Stop by for a vaccine, resources, and giveaways from Health & Community Services programs at this FREE walk-in event!

Please bring your photo I.D. and any insurance cards with you. NO ONE will be turned away.

Why?
Annual flu vaccines are one of the best ways to reduce the spread of influenza and help protect our community during the respiratory illness season.

Everyone six months of age and older should receive an annual flu vaccine. Vaccination is especially important for people at higher risk of serious complications from the flu, including young children, pregnant individuals, adults with certain chronic health conditions, and adults age 65 years and older.

Flu Clinic Hours:
Monday - Thursday

After an incredibly busy summer that often involved very heavy work, the Urban Alliance team spent an afternoon enjoying some sun, sand, reconnection, and recharging for the fall season ahead.

Our team headed to South Haven to participate in a scavenger hunt that allowed us to explore, be creative, work together, and laugh our way through the afternoon!
