Urban Alliance was founded in Kalamazoo, Mich., in 1999 with the mission to build meaningful relationships and connections with the area’s marginalized community members. After relentlessly pounding the pavement, Urban Alliance received its non-profit status in 2006 and has worked to expand its relationships and capabilities ever since. The organization, or movement as it is seen by team members,

provides a vital purpose, creating opportunities for marginalized individuals to embrace their talents and potentials, learn skills, gain confidence, and be seen. Urban Alliance also actively strives to educate and transform mainstream society, shifting the narrative and perception of who is deemed as valuable.

What a great day with our community!

Thank you to everyone from the Edison neighborhood and beyond who joined us last week for our summer block party. We loved spending time together, dancing and connecting with neighbors, and enjoying a day centered on our community.

A special thank you to our volunteers and partners who helped make the day possible: Dominica's Promise, Fatherhood Network, GVI (Group Violence Intervention), ISAAC, Interfaith Strategy for Advocacy & Action in the Community, LEAN On Healing with Healing On Purpose, and Threads Church.

We’re grateful for each of you!

Everyone, please join us in applauding our latest graduates from our Change of Status program!

Yesterday, 11 men graduated after completing 12 weeks of showing up, doing the work, and investing in themselves and their futures.

Here are some of the powerful words our graduates had to share yesterday from their experience in Change of Status:
- "Safe spaces"
- "Vision"
- "These were 12 weeks of vulnerability"

Transformation is built through moments like these, with relationships, trust, accountability, and a community willing to walk alongside you.

Congratulations to our graduates, and thank you to the partners, families, staff, and community members who continue to support this work.
