Stuart Historic Neighborhood Association The Stuart Historic Neighborhood — a great place to live, work, and make friends!

The Stuart Area Restoration Association (SARA) was founded in 1973 by local residents concerned with property issues. Forty years later, SARA continues to be the advocate for, and the voice of the neighborhood. Sponsored by the City of Kalamazoo, SARA is composed of a board of directors who hold monthly meetings, hosts community events and encourages citizen involvement. MISSION
The mission of the Stuart Area Restoration Association is to preserve our historic neighborhood and improve the quality of residential life through mutual cooperation and involvement.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – July 23, 2026 – North Church Street, between West Kalamazoo Avenue and Willard Street, will be closed from Monday, July 27, 2026, through Thursday, July 30, 2026, to support the ongoing two-way conversion of Kalamazoo Avenue and related infrastructure improvements.

Motorists should expect traffic impacts and are encouraged to follow the posted detour routes. If pedestrian access is affected, a local pedestrian detour will be provided.

On Tuesday, June 23rd, "Streets for All" will be hosting a public meeting to provide information and receive feedback from residents regarding work that will soon begin on Kalamazoo Avenue. We encourage Stuart residents to attend this meeting! More information below.

Construction on Kalamazoo Avenue is expected to begin in July. Join us to to learn what to expect during this project.
