1 week warning! - Playgroup!!!

Saturday October 24th, 10 AM - 4 PM
Empire Town Hall

Just like past playgroups, participants can bring whatever project they are working on.

This will also be an opportunity for those wanting to learn how to warp a rigid heddle loom. Guild members with rigid heddle experience will be on hand to walk thru the warping process with those wanting to get started on a project.

Terry Tarnow visited Antigua, Guatemala in March. The trip was her dream of learning about Guatemalan textiles, meeting artists and spending money on textiles. Terry will show photos of her trip and bring lots of examples.

Each Tuesday at 4PM EST the Handweavers Guild of America, Inc. (HGA) hosts Textiles & Tea, a conversation with some of the most respected fiber artists in the field today.

On October 13th, they feature Neil Goss

Neil Goss is a Kansas native transplanted to the Blue Ridge Mountains now living/working in Asheville, NC (Tsalaguwetiyi Land-Eastern Cherokee Territory). Goss primarily focuses on the processes of weaving and natural dyeing to create works that bridge the gaps of art and craft, paying homage to the interconnectedness of the Earth, human existence and all living entities. Goss makes individual wall works, immersive installations, ephemeral public art, teaches workshops, and does artist talks. Goss has exhibited coast-to-coast in the US, most notably at the Bard Graduate Center Gallery in Manhattan and the Textile Center in Minneapolis.

Textiles & Tea is broadcast via Zoom and Facebook Live. It is sponsored, which means it is free to the public.

“Coextending: Art & Agriculture” with Rachel Meyers Hefferan

Rachel will share how her practice as an artist has moved away from the study of microbiology as a representation of larger networks and systems and has morphed into metaphors, meanings, & interspecies mentorship.
