Sometimes, it's all about the energy of the group. This particular day had a warm and cozy vibe. Can you feel it?

Based on the estimated number of participants and access to heat, the organizers of the Kalamazoo Fiber Arts Club chose to use one of the back rooms for the May 2nd meetup. They ended up filling all of the spots! It didn't matter. As participants needed different things, they shared or moved around. And when it came time to leave, it was hard to believe how fast it had all gone. Regardless of their next available Saturday, everyone was looking forward to returning asap. The power has been reconnected, all equipment is working again.

Due to the storm, the makerspace currently has a partial power outage.

This mainly shuts down the wood shop and metal shop side. This also currently shuts down our largest laser cutter, as the air compressor for it is on the wood shop grid.

The meeting area and 3d printers are still operational.

We will post updates when things change.

It is hard to know where to start in describing the projects (some WIPs) from the Makers Meetup in Kalamazoo held on 11/23/2025, so it'll be round robin style. Most are in the photo. The round robin began with the 3D printed dragon (since named “Cinnamon”) and a wooden Christmas tree. Then carried on with heat pressed hoodie designs, followed by a continuation of the Moth Box story.

Someone else is researching 3D printing prosthetics. A handmade wine rack is a present in process, which may get it's own post. Instead of buying a name badge, someone made one out of acrylic and colored it in with paint markers. And, definitely a highlight in itself, Meredith's presentation on her award winning cosplay, including what she learned.

The best way to experience these events is to be there, remotely or in-person, so you can listen to the narratives, ask questions, offer feedback, and maybe check things out closer. Lucky for you, there is one more chance this year!
