At Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan, we work year-round to provide enriching activities for girls. She might explore the solar system, venture on a nature hike, become a weather watcher, star in a play, enjoy a scavenger hunt, or take an amazing trip. Best of all, she'll do all these exciting Girl Scout activities with other girls and caring adults who will likely become close friends. Is she ready t

o explore new activities, help her community, earn badges, compete for awards and enjoy Girl Scout adventures? If she's 5 to 17 years old, she can be part of the largest organization for girls on the planet. Our regional centers are located in Jackson, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Saginaw and Ysilanti/Ann Arbor.

Senior Girl Scouts Madelyn and Sophia from Troop 50436 delivered 15 cases of cookies around Bay City through our Hometown Heroes program!

The girls delivered a box to each veteran in 10 different living facilities, cases to the local women’s shelter, multiple fire & EMT stations, their local hospital and emergency room and hospice house! Way to go girls! You have honored so many different heroes in your hometown. 🚒🚑

We are deeply saddened to share the loss of our friend, Gary Barton, beloved husband of our former CEO, Jan Barker. We are so grateful for all of the contributions Gary has made to support GSHOM as a whole over the years.

Beyond being our “Chief Executive Husband” for 20 years, Gary was a true friend and supporter of Girl Scouting. His company, The Barton Group, served as our owner's rep during the construction of the Kalamazoo Regional Center. Gary's hard work saved us hundreds of thousands of dollars during that project. He was Bake-Off’s most dedicated fan and supporter. He also represented us as we purchased our beautiful new Ann Arbor Regional Center last year. He had been looking for five years for the perfect space for us to call home. He definitely was man enough to be a Girl Scout and so much more.

“Now being in the CEO role, I know personally the sacrifice that Gary made in sharing so much of his wife with us for so many years,” said our CEO, Brenna West, “and he never once complained; he only asked what more he could do for us.”

Gary will be greatly missed, and forever in our hearts.💚

Since 1974, Girl Scouts have had the honor of serving in the Mackinac Island Service Program—come out this summer to see them in action!🇺🇸🤚🌊

See them perform flag ceremonies and other service tasks, ask the Girl Scouts about their experience, receive a neat fun patch, and even have a snack with them at the Girl Scouts barracks.

Happy National Flag Day!🇺🇸

Today, we're proud to recognize the Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan Color Guard for a special community service project! From the ground up, these dedicated Girl Scouts designed, built, and painted a Flag Retirement Box that is now in service at our Ann Arbor Regional Center in Whitmore Lake.🙌

Girl Scouts have a long history of honoring the American flag through service, leadership, and patriotism. As we celebrate the 250th birthday of the Stars and Stripes this year, we're grateful for these girls' commitment to creating a lasting resource for their community.❤️🤍💙

If you have an American flag ready for retirement, we invite you to stop by our Ann Arbor Regional Center in Whitmore Lake and place it in the retirement box. These Girl Scouts will ensure each flag is handled with proper etiquette and retired with the care and respect it deserves.

We want to thank the team from Jackson National Life Insurance Company for supporting Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan. They spent hours painting our Lansing Regional Center and deep cleaning Mill Run at Camp Wacousta. Their efforts created fresh, welcoming spaces for girls and volunteers alike.🧹✨
