FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
First and foremost, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the city of Kalamazoo for the
unwavering support you've shown me over the years. You’ve helped turn a dream I had as a
10-year-old into a beautiful and impactful reality. Without the encouragement, belief, and
love from each and every one of you, none of this would have been possible.
From the very beginning, my mission has been simple but powerful: to build up my
community and create something lasting and meaningful. That purpose has guided me
every step of the way. And by the grace of God, I’ve not only grown personally and
professionally, but I’ve also been led toward a new chapter one that continues the heart of
that same mission in a different form.
This is not a goodbye to Layla’s Cool Pops; it’s an evolution. While the business is shifting,
the dream remains. I’m excited to share that we’ll be establishing the Layla’s Cool Pops Legacy Endowment Fund
dedicated to providing and sustaining affordable housing for low-income families. This
fund will allow us to keep our original vision alive, ensuring that housing stays safe,
affordable, and accessible, and that our properties and services stay up to date and well
cared for.
This transition is a step forward, one filled with hope, purpose, and faith. Thank you again,
Kalamazoo. You’ve been with me since day one, and I’m excited to continue making a
difference just in a new way!
