A week ago today, the Board of Directors of Community Advocates for Parents and Students (CAPS) gathered with alumni scholars, former CAPS parents, current and former coordinators, donors, community partners, tutors, Civic Engagement Scholars, friends and most specially all living founders and the families of two of the three founders who have since passed on from this earthly place. Our hearts are filled with immense gratitude for those who were present, and those who donated toward our Twenty Year Fundraiser. As you enjoy just a handful of photos from the event (more to come) please consider donating to support the next decade of our work.

Today marks the first day of CAPS and coming off of a packed house for our Open House last week, we are thrilled to have twenty scholars show up today for tutoring and several others registered by their parent! It’s going to be an amazing program year for CAPS.

P.S. have you heard the announcement 📣 from The Kalamazoo Promise? Our scholars who graduate from KPS eligible for the scholarship, may now use it at Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the country!!! Wonderful News!!! CAPS will continue to do our part to prepare the scholars to receive their Promise.

A huge THANK YOU to CAPS Alum and K. Central class of 2010 graduate, Kyle Owens for making time to support us as we continue prep for our 20th Anniversary celebration. To think, it has been nearly seventeen years since Kyle finished his K-12 education and went on to college. Now a college graduate, a father of two and a business man, he still considers CAPS a major part of his success journey. Thanks to Kyle and his father, Craig Owens, who currently serves as the board treasurer for being a part of our twenty year journey.

More from Kyle and others to come!

🚨 If you are a CAPS Alum and would like to be a part of our 20 Year Celebration, please email us at [email protected] or comment below for someone to inbox you on Facebook.

Please consider donating to ensure that CAPS is equipped to support more generations of scholars for the next twenty plus years.
