KZCF and several community partners enjoyed a wonderful morning of celebration as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kalamazoo hosted a donor reception and ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new Portage Street location today! KZCF has proudly supported Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kalamazoo for over 40 years as they've continued to support and uplift our community's youth.

The building, which features activity rooms, common areas, a gym, a cafeteria and more, will open for neighborhood youth on Monday, June 8. Be sure to check out their Community Open House this evening from 5 to 7 p.m. The event is free and will take place at the new Portage Street location (847 Portage Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49001).

Meet Jonathan Richardson: a retired chemical engineer, a partner to David, and someone putting his legacy behind a more equitable Kalamazoo County.

This Pride Month, we're sharing his perspective on community, meaningful allyship, and what it means to build something that lasts… Because, in his words: community doesn't happen by chance.

How do you Love Out Loud? ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🩷🩵

Have you heard the news!? Rx Kids has come to the City of Galesburg and Wakeshma and Oshtemo Townships!

Yesterday afternoon was filled with joy, celebration and plenty of laughs as the Rx Kids team held a press conference at Kalamazoo Public Library’s Oshtemo Branch to announce the exciting news that residents in these three expansion sites can now participate in the historic Rx Kids program! Rx Kids, which launched in Flint in 2024 and then expanded to the City of Kalamazoo in 2025, is the nation’s first-ever community-wide prenatal and infant cash prescription program.

Moms who participate receive $1,500 during pregnancy, and babies receive $500 per month for up to 12 months after birth. Local leaders, community partners and elected officials were all in attendance to mark the occasion and speak to Rx Kids' remarkable success. As the local fiduciary of the program, we’re looking forward to continuing to partner with Community Champion, Cradle Kalamazoo, and GiveDirectly!

What does it mean to Love Out Loud in a moment where so many have gone quiet?

This Pride Month, hear from five of your LGBTQIA+ neighbors as they share what living authentically in Kalamazoo County means to them. Each week this June, discover why they refuse to shrink, their tips on meaningful allyship and how they’re meeting the current moment through their philanthropy. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🩷🩵

There are many things we love to do at KZCF, and one of them is celebrating the incredible women throughout Kalamazoo County who’ve made great strides in driving our community forward. We were proud to support YWCA Kalamazoo’s annual Women of Achievement Awards, which honor and highlight the accomplishments of our community’s established and rising women leaders. During the event, our very own Demetrias Wolverton, chief people & public affairs officer, presented the Dorothy I. Height Award, sponsored by KZCF, to Stacey Randolph Ledbetter.

At KZCF, we understand that our county can only become the most equitable place to live when every resident can thrive, especially our women and girls. When they rise, we all do!

At KZCF, we love where we live, and we love what we do! What do both things have in common? They come from the heart, which was the focus of the American Heart Association’s (AHA) 2026 Kalamazoo Heart Walk Executive Leadership Breakfast last week.

Executive leaders throughout Kalamazoo County were brought together to learn about the local impact of the Kalamazoo Heart Walk and discover the importance of promoting healthy movement in their workplaces. KZCF is ready to join the AHA’s Nation of Lifesavers, understanding that to care for our community, we must first care for ourselves. ❤️

The next Kalamazoo Heart Walk is coming up this fall! Will we see you there?

At KZCF, we understand that advancing one’s education begins during childhood. That’s why we were excited to support the Kalamazoo Public Library’s Party in the Park reading event.

This year marked their 29th annual celebration, which brought together readers (like us), volunteers, partners, storybook characters and hundreds of local elementary school children in Bronson Park. We were so grateful for the opportunity to share in this joy-filled moment, and we look forward to supporting next year’s event, which we’re sure will feature even more fun! 📖 📚🍎✨

We want to know: Which children’s book made you wish you could step inside its world?
