The Maui Portuguese Cultural Club would like to thank everyone for a wonderful Festa! To honor Our Lady of Fatima, who appeared to three children on this day in 1917, our members and children performed a coronation ceremony, crowning her the Queen of Heaven. The event was followed by Traditional Dance handed down from our Hawaii-bound ancestors. The feasting began with Portuguese Soup, Vinha D’Alhos sandwich, bread and more! A very successful event in many ways thanks to the many hands involved in producing it!

The Maui Portuguese Cultural Club is pleased to announce our 5 Scholarship winners for 2025. In addition to our club’s annual award, we have established a memorial scholarship, posthumously, under the name of our most beloved and generous member, Rita Silva, to award $1,000.00 to the applicant with the highest score in the scholarship process.
Congratulations to our new scholarship recipients !

1. Kahiwaonalani Kekona, 106 points, winner of the Rita Silva Memorial Scholarship, and awarded $1,000.00. Graduate of Kamehameha School, to attend UH Maui campus, Hawaiian Studies .

2. Ikaika Wright, awarded $750.00. Graduate of King Kekaulike HS, to attend UNLV, Engineering.

3. Valerie Laepa’a, awarded $750.00, attending Willamette University, Library Science.

4. Logan Lung, awarded $750.00, graduate of Kamehameha School, Texas Tech University, Veterinary Medicine.

5. Jacob Robello, awarded $750.00, graduate of Seabury Hall, Oregon State University, Engineering.
