The Native Hawaiian Plant Society (NHPS) is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization whose mission it is to preserve and restore Hawaiian native plants on the island of Maui.

Learn how to make traditional styles of lei with natural and native plant materials from the Native Hawaiian Plant Society and Seabury Hall Lei Club.

Join the NHPS lei making booth at the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens' ARBOR DAY Sat. Nov 2 2024 11:30 - 1:30 pm and make your own ankle, wrist or head lei!🌿🩵🍃🌸🌿🩵🍃🌸🌿🩵 This is a FREE event. Native plants and materials will be provided and help getting you started!

ARBOR DAY 2024: Lei Making with Native Hawaiian Plants
Saturday, November 2nd | 11:30AM–2:30PM
This activity is hosted by the Native Hawaiian Plant Society. They are experts in using native Hawaiian plants to make a lei wili, or a lei bound onto a base using twine that is wound around the base, fastening bundles of cut foliage and flowers in patterns as you go.

Need volunteers at our Lei making booth at Maui Nui Botanical Gardens for Arbor Day on Nov. 2. Two hour shifts. 9 - 11 or 11 - 2 pm. You don't have to be experienced to help, there is plant prepping and helping people get started with lei, and tying them off when done. It is always fun. 🌿🌿The June Native Hawaiian Plant Society work day will be on Saturday, June 15, 2024, starting at 9 am., at Haiku Elementary School, 105 Pauwela Road, Haiku

Bring your favorite weeding tool and bucket. Park in the upper school parking lot, near the school office and cafeteria building. No reservations needed. You can stay as long or as as short as you like.

Please come if you can!

🌿🌿Reminder there's a Lahaina plant-a-thon day coming up Saturday 1/27. Morning, 9-12 at Kauluwehi, followed by going to Lahaina to plant. Participants can choose whatever part of the day to work. If you've let me know you'll participate, you don't need to reply.

🌿🌿It's NHPS' annual meeting time again. The 2024 annual meeting will be February 23, 2024 at the Poolside Meeting Room, Tavares Community Center. There will be a short business meeting to elect officers for 2024 at 6:30 PM, followed by a talk at 7 by Cathy Davenport - per the attached article, a preview page 1 of this year's newsletter.
