Deep roots, unshakeable strength, and a shared journey. 🌊🏐⚽

Have you ever heard of the Yapese Stone Money, also known as Rai Stones?

These massive stone currencies weren’t valuable simply because of their size. Their value came from the journey—the miles traveled across the ocean, the challenges overcome, the lives touched along the way, and the stories carried with them. Each stone held a history that connected people, families, and communities.

That story reminds us of the communities we serve on Maui.

Bringing together people from different island nations, languages, cultures, and lived experiences isn’t always easy. Yet beneath those differences, we share something powerful: resilience, connection, and roots that run deep.

This tournament reflects what we believe at Roots Reborn—that when communities come together, we build strength, belonging, and opportunity. We honor where we come from while creating a future where everyone can thrive.
Join us as we celebrate culture, community, and the ties that connect us. Come cheer on your favorite team and help us make some noise for our island communities! 💥

⚖️ No Human Is Illegal: Bringing Clarity to the Recent USCIS Memo (Part 2) 🌱

When news drops about changes to immigration policies, it’s completely natural to feel a wave of anxiety. But at Roots Reborn, we believe that accurate information is our best shield against fear.

Our co-founder and immigration attorney, Kevin Block, is stepping up to break down the recent USCIS policy memo that came out last Friday. While the memo signals a stricter approach to how USCIS may exercise discretion in certain cases, it does not change the underlying law or eligibility requirements.

🔍 The Law Has Not Changed
Here is the ground truth we can take comfort in: while the memo introduces stricter internal guidelines, the actual law remains the same.
* Discretion is Nothing New: The Adjustment of Status process (applying for a Green Card from within the US) has always included an exercise of discretion. USCIS officers have always weighed factors to make their decisions.

Positive Equities Matter: Strong positive contributions, like paying your taxes, not having any criminal charges, and deep, lasting family and community ties within the United States, help strengthen your case.

✊ Remember: Trust is our infrastructure, and no human is illegal.

Community engagement isn’t always easy, especially when we are bringing together different nations with different languages, cultures, history and background. Despite those differences, there are values we all share: family, faith, resilience, culture, and connection to the ocean.

In the words of Roots Reborn team member, Dee: “ Pacifika was created to celebrate both our differences and our unity. ‘Many oars, one canoe’ really captures that spirit. Even though we come from different islands and backgrounds, the ocean connects us all. Through sports, culture, and celebration, we want to create a space where our communities can come together, feel seen, and take pride in who they are, while also sharing that pride with the broader Maui and Hawaiʻi communities.”

Come support your teams and honor our culture!
