We are losing many big monkeypods this year from continued drought - several in the row crossing Hana Hwy between Haleakala Hwy and Sprecklesville, and near the intersection of Hana Hwy and Haleakala Hwy have turned WHITE, some have already fallen over. These trees grown to their enormous size over many decades, and are so valuable for bringing rain, preventing wildfires and saving our soil.
Regular visits by water trucks saved many trees in Lahaina after the fires. Water trucks should bring water to our dying big trees in Central Maui. Please give them water before more are lost.
