Kadoka Area Foundation was honored to present a check to several outstanding Kadoka HOSA students as they prepare to represent our community at the HOSA International Leadership Conference.

HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) is a student-led organization that helps develop future leaders in healthcare through education, competition, service, and leadership opportunities. These students have dedicated countless hours to learning, preparing, and excelling in their respective events to earn a spot at the national level.

We are proud to support these young leaders as they represent Kadoka on the national stage. Their hard work, commitment, and passion for serving others are a testament to the bright future of healthcare and the strength of our community.

Congratulations on this incredible achievement! We wish you safe travels, memorable experiences, and the very best of luck at Nationals. Kadoka is cheering you on every step of the way!

The Kadoka Area Foundation is proud to award an annual $2,000 grant to the community library through the Jim & Dianne Gropper sub-fund. 📚❤️

This yearly gift reflects Jim & Dianne’s lasting commitment to education, opportunity, and investing in resources that continue to strengthen our community for generations to come. Libraries are more than books.. they are places for learning, connection, creativity, and growth for all ages.

We are incredibly grateful for the generosity behind this fund and the lasting impact it will continue to make year after year within our community library.

The Kadoka Area Foundation was honored to present the Kadoka Nursing Home Association, Inc with a $5,000 donation to help fund a new three-door reach-in freezer for Dining Services.

This freezer may seem like a simple piece of equipment, but it will make a meaningful difference in the day-to-day operations of the nursing home. This will help staff better serve meals, improve storage capacity, and continue providing quality care for the residents who call KNH home. ❤️

At the Kadoka Area Foundation, we believe in investing in the heart of our community, and our nursing home is just that. We are grateful for the hardworking staff who care for our residents each and every day and we’re proud to support projects that help make their jobs a little easier and resident care even better.

Thank you to everyone who supports the Kadoka Area Foundation and helps make gifts like this possible. Together, we continue to strengthen our community one project at a time. 🙌

🎉 Hometown Hero Recognition 🎉

We are proud to celebrate Rusty Olney, founder of the Kadoka Area Foundation, on receiving the Hometown Hero Award from the South Dakota Community Foundation.

Rusty challenged our community with a bold vision, offering a $100,000 match if Kadoka could raise the same locally. Thanks to the overwhelming local support, that goal was met in just five months.

This recognition, presented by Jamie Farmen, honors Rusty’s generosity, leadership, and deep commitment to the place he calls home. We are incredibly fortunate to have someone like Rusty as part of our community. His belief in Kadoka and its people continues to make a lasting impact for generations to come.

Thank you, Rusty, for your vision, your generosity, and your heart for Kadoka. 💙

🚨 BIG NEWS for Kadoka Area Foundation — Another $50,000 MATCH on the Table! 🚨

The momentum continues! We’re thrilled to share that two generous families in our community have stepped forward with an additional $50,000 in matching contributions for the Kadoka Area Foundation.

If this match is met, it will push KAF to $500,000 total… doubling our original goal and creating an even stronger, permanent source of funding for local projects, nonprofits, and future needs right here in our community.

This is an incredible opportunity to turn every donated dollar into double the impact and to build something that will benefit Kadoka for generations to come.

We’ve seen what this community can do. Let’s finish strong and make history together. 💙

The Kadoka Area Foundation is proud to share an exciting milestone for our community. As a community savings account with the South Dakota Community Foundation, KAF successfully completed two major fundraising challenges — and did so as one of the fastest matches in the state.

Between April and August 2025, generous donors and community supporters came together to raise $100,000, unlocking a $100,000 challenge gift from Rusty along with an additional $50,000 match from the South Dakota Community Foundation.

Momentum didn’t stop there. KAF also met a second challenge by raising $40,000, earning a matching $40,000 gift from Casey and Kathryn Peterson of Rapid City.

In total, $190,000 in matching funds has been secured to help build a permanent source of funding that will support local charitable causes for generations to come.

This incredible achievement reflects the strength, generosity, and pride of the Kadoka community. Together, we’re building something lasting — and we’re just getting started as we look ahead to our $500,000 goal.

Thank you to every donor who made this possible. 💙
