EAA Chapter 1

EAA Chapter 1 We're the 1st local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association based at Flabob in Riverside, CA Duane Cole, of the Cole Bros.

Back in 1953, Paul Poberezny, who had founded the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) in his basement in a Milwaukee suburb, wanted to increase membership. Flying Circus, suggested that Paul write to Ray Stits at Flabob. Ray was already famous as the builder of the world’s smallest airplane. Ray replied that EAA sounded like a good idea, but it was a long drive from Riverside to Milwaukee, and

so Ray suggested that the EAA bylaws be changed to permit formation of local chapters. He was confident, he assured Paul, that inside of ten years he could have as many as one hundred members in California alone. Early in 1954, the very first EAA chapter charter was issued to EAA Chapter 1, which is alive and well today at Flabob Airport (KRIR)

🔵 Blue dots = us. All 30+ flights we performed!!

Flabob was BUZZING on our Young Eagles day — between Young Eagles flights and volunteer flights, our pilots logged over 30 operations! You can literally SEE the energy in this map! 🗺️🔥

Orange dots are all other pilot traffic at Flabob that day….

Our volunteers were absolute rockstars keeping the pattern moving and the skies safe!

This is what a successful Young Eagles day looks like from above. We couldn’t be prouder of our pilots and crew! 🙌

What an incredible turnout at last night’s EAA Chapter 1 gathering!

Our EAA scholars hosted an engaging Q&A workshop for anyone interested in starting their journey toward a private pilot’s license, and it was a huge success. The conversations, questions, and shared enthusiasm for aviation made for a truly inspiring evening.

A big thank you to our scholars for leading such an informative session, and to all of our guests who came out to learn, connect, and support EAA Chapter 1. We’re excited to keep the momentum going!
