Meet another team member behind the mission: John All, JD, PhD 🌍
 John is an explorer, geoscientist, and climate researcher studying some of the most remote and fragile places on Earth.

Author of Icefall and dubbed a “Badass for Science” (NPR) and the “Indiana Jones of Climate Science” (Outside), he combines adventure with cutting-edge science. As Executive Director of the American Climber Science Program, he leads global research bringing scientists, students, and mountaineers together to better understand our changing planet.

From the world’s highest mountains to global policy, his work focuses on climate impacts, and the solutions needed to adapt. Through Twin Fins Alliance, he is extending his expedition and research experience into the marine science space to expand how we study a changing planet🌊

Meet another team member behind the mission: Diana Dowd!

Diana is a marine biologist, professional diver, and shark specialist with nearly a decade of experience working with sharks. She earned her B.S. in Marine Science and Biology from the University of Miami and has worked in Florida’s ecotourism industry ever since.

A certified divemaster, freedive instructor, and professional shark diver/ underwater photographer, Diana uses in-water experiences as a platform for marine education and conservation.

She brings extensive shark behavioral knowledge to support long-term monitoring and research and is passionate about advancing science to further conservation as part of Twin Fins Alliance 🦈

Meet the team behind the mission! First up: Sally Dowd.

Sally is a marine scientist and PhD candidate at in coastal North Carolina. She draws on natural and social science methods to address challenges facing marine predators, fisheries, and coastal communities. She brings over a decade of experience in marine research spanning temperate to tropical environments.

She earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Berkeley and then worked as a research technician in the Nye lab. Through these experiences, she studied nearby coastal fishes to fishes living in the mesopelagic zone.

Sally prioritizes stakeholder engagement in her research and is particularly interested in understanding human-wildlife interactions. As an interdisciplinary scientist, member, and AAUS Scientific and PADI Rescue scuba diver, Sally is excited to bring her experience and passion for marine conservation to Twin Fins Alliance.

OUR FIRST EXPEDITION IS LIVE!! Fins Through a Lens combines shark diving, research, conservation, and mindfulness to educate and engage the public in shark conservation 🦈

Participants will experience a 5 day expedition focusing on shark diving targeting bull sharks, developing research skills to contribute to shark population studies, learning from experts in the field, & participating in local conservation. We will also spend the week exploring Jupiter and immersing ourselves in mindfulness through yoga and sound healing, while connecting with like minded ocean enthusiasts 🌊

No shark diving experience is necessary to join, link in bio to learn more!

Exciting update!! We (Sally Dowd and Diana Dowd) have been working hard behind the scenes to build and launch our marine nonprofit 🌊

We have dedicated our lives to studying, protecting, and sharing the ocean with others, and now we are finally coming together as twins to create an even greater impact. The ocean and its inhabitants have always been our why. Our inspiration, our passion, and the place that keeps us grounded and mindful.

We are so excited to launch this next chapter and officially join forces to advance marine conservation, and help protect ocean ecosystems and the communities that depend on them 🐠
