Happy Independence Day and America’s 250th Birthday! 🇺🇸🎉

On this special 4th of July in 2026, we celebrate 250 years of American freedom, resilience, and the spirit of adventure that has guided our nation since 1776. From the harbors where our founding ideals were born to the open waters we sail today, we give thanks for the liberties we cherish and the opportunities we have to serve and explore.

To all our Sea Scouts, leaders, families, veterans, and community supporters — thank you for your dedication, your service, and for keeping the maritime traditions and values of scouting alive. Whether we’re underway on the water, learning boating safety, or giving back through community projects, we honor the freedom that allows us to do it all.

Today we hoist our colors high and reflect with gratitude on the brave men and women who secured our independence and those who continue to defend it.

What an unforgettable day for Sea Scouts Ship 778!

On Sunday, our scouts had the rare privilege of boarding the stunning 1877 Tall Ship Elissa while she made a brief stop in Fort Pierce, FL. This magnificent 205-foot, three-masted iron barque was launched in 1877 and calls Galveston, TX home. She’s currently sailing north to New York to help celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary, where she’ll stand tall among the oldest and tallest ships on display.

Our scouts enjoyed an incredible guided tour of this living piece of maritime history and had a special Q&A session with the all-volunteer crew. The crew’s kindness, generosity, and passion for preserving seafaring tradition were truly inspiring.

We are so grateful for this experience and wish Captain and crew fair winds and following seas on the rest of their historic voyage!
