🌊 Florida communities are finding innovative ways to adapt to rising seas and stronger storms. From flood-resilient housing and green spaces to 3D-printed living seawalls, new designs are helping protect coastlines while providing added benefits for communities and ecosystems.
One living seawall studied in Florida supported 51 marine species within just one year, showing how resilient infrastructure can protect people while creating habitat for wildlife.

☀️ Florida families are already paying too much for power.

75% of Florida families say their electricity bills are too high. Yet Central Floridians are now facing an extra $20 a month to keep an aging coal plant running—one OUC was ready to retire.

Coal is Florida’s dirtiest and most expensive energy option, but the federal DOE is forcing the aging Stanton plant to stay open.

We shouldn’t keep subsidizing the past. It’s time to move the Sunshine State forward with cheaper, cleaner energy. 🌱⚡

🦉 What can owls tell us about a changing environment? Researchers analyzed 16,932 owl pellets containing nearly 75,000 prey items and found that three owl species in Chile shifted and diversified their diets as temperatures and drought conditions changed. The findings offer new insight into how wildlife adapts as environmental conditions reshape food webs and predator-prey relationships.

For every dollar the world invests in protecting nature, it spends thirty dollars destroying it. In this episode of the Climate Correction Podcast, host Shannon Maganiezin sits down with two of the authors behind the United Nations Environment Programme's (UNEP) State of Finance for Nature 2026 report to unpack what that staggering imbalance means for biodiversity, climate resilience, economic stability, and the future of finance itself. The numbers are sobering: in 2023 alone, roughly $7.3 trillion flowed into nature-negative activities, while just $220 billion supported nature-based solutions.

Shannon is joined by Ivo Mulder, who leads UNEP's Climate Finance Unit and has helped unlock more than one billion dollars for sustainable agriculture, forestry, and restoration across developing countries.

Also joining the conversation is Michael König-Sykorova, Senior Project Manager at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management and a leading expert in climate and nature finance data. Michael contributed to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report and led key analytical components of the State of Finance for Nature 2026 report.
