This week in Brazil, hundreds of children committed their lives to Christ! My clients in Kingdom Builders Academy helped me sponsor citywide evangelistic outreaches in two cities in Brazil. Reports are coming in of miracles, healings and many salvations as the love and message of Jesus is proclaimed.
As I look at these sweet faces I remember going to church for the first time with a neighborhood friend. I was 7 years old and went forward at the altar call. My family moved to New Orleans soon after, where at age 9 I started smoking pot with the neighborhood kids...
But that moment when God became real to me at age 7 never left me. The influence of the culture could not extinguish the purity of childlike faith. After dropping out of school and spending years in the drug scene, at age 17 I read the Bible for the first time...
I did not have a Christian friend on the planet, but what a friend we have in Jesus! I was forgiven, in one all-encompassing, lavishly gracious, incomprehensibly profound moment. Addictions were broken. I felt the chains fall. Suddenly I had hope, joy, peace and purpose.
From that day to this, now 40+ years later, I have seen the faithfulness of God and literally hundreds of answered prayers. I've experienced many miracles. Even when circumstances seem bleak, I know the peace of His Presence. If you want to know why I talk about my faith, that's why. These little ones in Brazil... that's why.
