The mission of the startup National Anti-Roadkill Project (NARP) is to protect wildlife from the hazards of roads. A staggering 1 million animals are killed by motor vehicle on our roads every day. If you feel a sense of outrage by this colossal carnage to wildlife that are forced to cross roads for their survival, now is your chance to be part of the solution to abate this trend.

NARP is seeking a commitment-driven animal lover to help it raise desperately needed funds for its survival. The volunteer should be FB savvy; fundraising experience is a plus (support available) but not required.

ROADKILL PREVENTION WEBSITE LAUNCHED

I am proud to announce that the National Anti-Roadkill Project (NARP) has launched its maiden website!

A staggering one million animals are killed on our roads - - daily - - by motor vehicles. Do you agree that it is unacceptable to view the maiming and killing of wildlife as simply a price we pay for the convenience of driving?

NARP is the only NGO whose mission is to protect wildlife from the hazards of our roads. The organization aims to tackle the roadkill crisis by implementing its action plan, which will zealously focus on driver and road safety measures to mitigate wildlife-vehicle collisions that decimate wildlife.

NARP’s initial campaign will address the devastation to the critically endangered Florida panther, whose dwindling population suffered 27 deaths in 2022, of which 25 (93%) were the result of motor vehicles.

Truck collides with Yellowstone bison herd outside park, killing 13

Anyone with a place in their heart for animals would be aghast at this tragedy. It is hoped that the investigation of this heartbreaking occurrence would be no less thorough than if the victims were humans. Unfortunately, in our spiciest society this is wishful thinking.

The lesson learned from this pitiful news is that driver safety measures and road safety measures could well have made the difference between life and death for the innocent Bisons that apparently fell victim to human indifference to the welfare of this iconic species of our Northern Great Plains.

There is a host of these mitigation measures that can be taken to reduce the risk to wild animals posed by motor vehicles. A list of these measures will appear in the website of the National Anti-Roadkill Project (NARP), which will be coming soon. In the interim, it is noted that NARP’s first rule of protecting wildlife from the hazards of highways and roads is: SPEED KILLS!

The National Anti-Roadkill Project (NARP) posts a fundraiser on GoFundMe

Conservative estimates indicate that in the United States - - every day - - over 1 million vertebrate animals are killed by vehicle collisions. Yet, there are no NGOs that have as their mission to address this crisis.

NARP aims to significantly reduce the colossal number of deaths and countless crippling injuries (oftentimes leaving behind helpless orphans) that occur on America’s roads as a result being stricken by motor vehicles. This endeavor is particularly critical for endangered species, such as the Florida panther, since roadkill is a leading cause of death of this iconic feline. Once NARP is operational, its initial campaign will tackle this crisis before it is too late to save these magnificent creatures.

The time is long past due to address this issue with a new paradigm that finds it unacceptable to view the maiming and killing of wildlife as simply a price we pay for the convenience of driving. NARP’s initiative can make a difference for the defenseless creatures that are trapped in the network of roads that have invaded their habitat. It is my hope that you will support NARP to make this challenge a reality.

The National Anti-Roadkill Project (NARP) distinguishes itself as the only NGO whose mission is to protect America’s wildlife from the hazards of our highways and roads.

Wild animals are at grave risks when forced to cross roads for their survival. NARP’s aim is to significantly reduce the colossal number of deaths and countless crippling injuries (oftentimes leaving behind helpless orphans) that occur every day on America’s roads as a result being stricken by motor vehicles. NARP intends to achieve its mission by implementing driver safety measures and road safety measures that can substantially reduce avoidable wildlife-vehicle collisions.

This endeavor is particularly critical for endangered species, such as the Florida panther, since road kills are a leading cause of death of this iconic feline. Once NARP is operational, its initial campaign will tackle the panther roadkill crisis by zealously focusing on driver and road safety measures to mitigate the risk of extinction of this apex predator.

The challenge is to make a reality that wildlife and our 4-million-mile public road network can coexist. NARP is resolved to champion a growing tide of intolerance for animals needlessly being the victim of carnage on our roads.

DRIVING from his home in Bedford to his office in White Plains, Ira Fischer sees raccoons, opossum, skunks, deer, rabbits, chipmunks and squirrels -- most of them dead. Bloody and mangled or simply stiff and lifeless, they have been struck by cars and trucks on country roads, main thoroughfares and Interstate 684.
