🎉 Meet Our Final Male Cabin Director: Josh Chesak! 🎉

We are so excited to round out our amazing team of male Cabin Directors with the introduction of Josh Chesak!

Hailing from Victoria, Texas, Josh is currently pursuing his degree in Natural Resource Management at Angelo State University. Growing up on his family’s ranch in South Texas, Josh developed a lifelong love for the land and wildlife. He has spent years honing his skills in habitat management for quail, deer, and turkey, and he is a dedicated angler currently competing with the ASU Bass Club.

With his sights set on a future career as a ranch manager or wildlife biologist, Josh brings a perfect blend of hands-on experience and professional drive to the Youth Range Workshop. We can’t wait to see the expertise and enthusiasm he’ll share with our campers this year!

💪 Meet Our Third Female Cabin Director: Emilia Chavira! 💪

We are absolutely thrilled to introduce the third member of our female Cabin Director team for this year’s Youth Range Workshop: Emilia Chavira!

Emilia brings a deep-rooted passion for the outdoors and a wealth of academic knowledge to our program. Hailing from Round Rock, Texas, she is currently pursuing her degree in Rangeland, Fisheries, and Wildlife Management at Texas A&M University.

Her journey began on her family’s property in Del Rio, Texas, along the Mexican-American border, where she spent her formative years learning to hunt, fish, and mastering the essential outdoor skills she is now so passionate about sharing. Emilia is an incredibly active member of the conservation community, participating in programs like BOW (Becoming an Outdoors-Woman) and the Texas Master Naturalist (TMN) program. She also brings valuable hands-on experience from her work as a student intern at the Ecology & Natural Resource Teaching Area and as a USDA Climate Hub program assistant.

We are so lucky to have her mentorship, energy, and expertise guiding our campers this year!

🤝 Support the Next Generation of Stewards!
This year’s Youth Range Workshop is made possible by our dedicated sponsors who believe in cultivating the next generation of conservation leaders. A huge thank you to our partners for supporting hands-on education and outdoor stewardship!

🚨 CABIN DIRECTOR REVEAL: A YRW Veteran Returns to the Range! 🚨

Help us welcome our third male cabin director, Ector Martinez! Joining our 2026 cabin director team is a true Texas Section SRM YRW legend. 🤠🔥

If there is anyone who knows the ins and outs of our workshop, it’s Ector. A Fort Stockton native and two-time YRW camper, he’s been through the full gauntlet—Junior Director, Students Of Stewardship - TSSRM camper, and now returning as a veteran Cabin Director. He’s seen it all and is ready to show our new campers exactly what it takes to succeed on the range.

Here’s why we’re lucky to have Ector leading the charge:
🎓 Academics: Ector is currently pursuing a degree in Natural Resource Management at Angelo State University.
⚖️ Law Enforcement Focus: He’s serving as the President of the ASU Student Law Enforcement Club. After graduation, he’s aiming to join the Texas Parks and Wildlife Law Enforcement Academy as a Texas Game Wardens or Texas State Park Police! 🚔
🌵 Giving Back: Ector is passionate about passing the torch. He knows the YRW culture, the traditions, and the grit required to make this week a success.

We are stoked to have Ector back in Junction to mentor our next class of land stewards. Drop a comment below and give him a big YRW welcome! 👇

🤝 Support the Next Generation of Stewards!
It takes a village (and some incredible sponsors!) to make this workshop happen. A huge thank you to everyone who has already stepped up to sponsor a student—we can’t wait to feature our amazing sponsors during the week of camp!

From Camper to Professional: Max Ebeling’s YRW Journey 🌾

"It pretty much changed the trajectory of my life."

Meet Max Ebeling, a Youth Range Workshop alumnus who attended back in the late 90s/early 2000s. For Max, YRW wasn’t just a week-long camp—it was the foundation for his life as a range manager and production agriculturist.
Growing up in a ranching family, Max says the lessons he learned at the Texas Tech Junction Campus are still crucial to how he looks at land management today. We’re so proud to see our alumni out there making a living doing what they love!

Getting to the ROOT of rangeland management with our next Cabin Director! 🌱🤠

We are so excited to introduce Garrett Purcell as our next male Cabin Director for the 2026 Youth Range Workshop!

If you want proof that YRW gets in your blood, just look at Garrett. He first attended camp way back in 2019 and hasn't been able to stay away since! Not only has he worked his way up the ranks to Cabin Director, but he was also a camper at the very first advanced Youth Range Workshop 2 in Decatur, Texas.

Hailing from Eagle Pass, Texas, Garrett is currently turning his camp passion into a career. He’s at Texas A&M University majoring in Rangeland Management and competing on the TAMU Collegiate Plant Identification Team. (As you can tell from the photo, he knows a thing or two about digging up a good specimen! 🌿🔍)

Garrett is ready to share his expertise and camp traditions with the class of 2026.
