I.C.A.R.E. That U Read Recognition

During April and May, The I.C.A.R.E. Organization recognized 334 "most improved readers" across each grade level at 12 elementary schools in the USD 475 School District, including Lutheran Preschool and St. Xavier, during their 2025-26 year-end ceremonies.

The I.C.A.R.E. Initiative promotes intergenerational reading to provide significant benefits for children, older adults, and the community. Our organization also extended this initiative to award books to students with disabilities and those in need of books for their home libraries.

Attached is a photo of the most improved readers in Kindergarten through 5th grade at Milford School. Pictured are the students along with Principal Phyllis Boller and I.C.A.R.E. Board Members Sean Mueller and Wendy King-Luttman (Board Member Scott Olson is not pictured).

Creating Memories

On Saturday, March 21, a youth group participated in an intergenerational activity at Brookdale Senior Living. It was a wonderful morning filled with conversation, creativity, and smiles.

The residents were eager to share their family histories with the youth. One resident brought her Bible to ensure she correctly identified every family member, while another expressed a deep desire to have his history preserved in writing.

The event was a meaningful success as youth and volunteers interviewed the residents about their families, and also shared their own experiences.

EATING HEALTHY TOGETHER

On February 9, twenty-five Lincoln Elementary Lion Leadership Students, (kindergarten-2nd grade) visited Tallgrass Healthcare to learn information about "eating healthy" by their Dietitian.

After the presentation, the students & residents ate lunch together & enjoyed conversation. Before returning to school the students gave residents Valentine Cards, and I.C.A.R.E. gave students apples, oranges, and bananas.
