This afternoon, Servant Hearts, Inc. was back in the building at Junction City High School for the networking event hosted through a marketing class in the Business, Public Service, and Hospitality Pathway. ๐Ÿ’™

For the past five years, this event has created a space for students to connect with local leaders, business owners, military personnel, and civic and educational partners in our community.

I had the pleasure of spending time with Hazelle, a delightful and talented young artist. ๐ŸŽจ

She was such a joy to visit with this afternoon.

One of Hazelleโ€™s pieces is featured in the USD 475 Art Show and Silent Auction tonight and tomorrow, and it is absolutely beautiful.

She shared that she has sketched all her life, but really became serious about her artwork about two years ago. Honestly, her work looks like that of someone who has been developing her craft for far longer.

She is gifted. ๐ŸŒŸ

I encouraged her to continue building her presence and sharing her art with the world.

Young people need reminders that their gifts matter, and Hazelle surely has a gift.

Events like this matter. They give students the chance to practice confidence, professionalism, and conversation skills in real time.

And yes, one of the most fun moments of the afternoon was seeing the students light up when DJ Giddens arrived.

Once they spotted him, the rest of us became chopped liver real fast. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿˆ

The excitement in the room was priceless.

Servant Hearts, Inc. will always support spaces where encouragement, exposure, and possibility grow for young people. โค๏ธ

โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’› International Volunteer Day! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

From Servant Hearts, Inc.

Today, we celebrate the people who make our community stronger simply by showing up.

Volunteerism is more than service hours. It is compassion in motion. It is neighbors becoming family. It is the heartbeat of Junction City and Geary County, where Servant Hearts, Inc., has done nearly all of its work for years with deep pride and purpose.

Our volunteers have packed food boxes, loved on families, supported youth, partnered with schools, lifted elders, and stood in the gaps no one else could see. They have given their time, their energy, and their hearts to ensure that hope is not just a word in this county. It is a lived experience.

The work we do cannot happen without you. Each hand offered, each smile shared, each hour given becomes a seed that grows into real change for real people.

To every volunteer who has walked beside us in this mission, thank you. You are the true architects of community care. Your service is sacred, and your impact reaches far beyond what the eye can see.

Here is to a stronger, kinder, more connected Geary County.
Here is to service that transforms.
Here is to hearts that lead.

๐ŸŽ‰โค๏ธ Happy Anniversary, Servant Hearts, Inc. โค๏ธ๐ŸŽ‰

On this day in 2019, a calling became a community. A whisper became a movement. And Servant Hearts, Inc. was born. Rooted in purpose, powered by love, and guided by the belief that servant leadership changes lives.

Today we pause.
To honor the journey.
To remember why we started.

To give thanks for every hand, every heart, and every hope that brought us this far.

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ To our phenomenal Board of Directors: thank you. Your faith, your wisdom, and your quiet strength have carried this mission in moments seen and unseen. You are the pulse behind every impact we make.

This year, we stretched deeper into the work:
๐ŸŒบ SWAG Day at HD Karns Innovation Academy welcomed 53 students into a space of confidence, connection, and courage.

๐ŸŽ“ I was humbled to serve as commencement speaker for their graduating class, a full-circle moment that reminded me just how powerful voice and visibility are for our youth.

๐Ÿ’ฐWe also wrote and submitted a state grant to support addressing food insecurity through community collaboration and social service access.

๐Ÿ“š This semester, I will serve on the Marketing Pathway Advisory Committee at Junction City High School, helping shape what success looks like in real time for future leaders.

๐Ÿ’ฌ From the classroom to the community
๐Ÿ’ก From vision to voice
๐Ÿซฑ๐Ÿพโ€๐Ÿซฒ๐Ÿฝ From passion to purpose

We are just getting started.

If you have ever volunteered, donated, partnered, prayed for us, or simply believed, thank you. This anniversary is yours too.

๐Ÿ“ข Keep walking with us!

At Servant Hearts, we are committed to showing up, lifting up, and pouring in, one student, one story, one act of service at a time.

I am in the afterglow this morning, thinking about and reflecting on SWAG Day at Karns Academy this past weekend, and what drives me to continue this work is something that happened at Karns Day.

Here is what I wrote in the final report to Mrs. Hancock and my Board of Directors...

Personal Reflections
One of the most powerful and memorable moments (and there were several) from SWAG Day unfolded during the main session, โ€œBoss Up โ€“ Be the CEO of Your Own Future!โ€ As I asked the students how they might turn a hobby into a side hustle into a business, one young lady shared that she crochets.

She described how crocheting had always been a hobby for her, and that she had mostly created pieces for close family and friends.

What happened next was truly remarkable. In the MIDDLE of the session, as soon as she talked about her hobby, four adults in the room immediately expressed interest and told her they wanted to place orders with her...NOW.

Witnessing this outpouring of support, seeing her hobby instantly transform into a business opportunity with four new clients, was the highlight of my day. ๐ŸŽฏ

It was a real-time demonstration of the eventโ€™s core message: that our talents and passions, when shared with confidence, can open doors and inspire others to invest in our dreams.

Even more touching was reading her friendโ€™s comment on the post-event survey: โ€œI love that my friend spoke up about her hobby. Now, she has 4 orders!โ€

This moment not only affirmed the importance of providing a supportive environment for students to share their gifts, but it also showcased the immediate impact that encouragement and community can have on a young personโ€™s belief in their own potential.

This experience encapsulated the spirit of SWAG Day - empowering students to see themselves as capable, valued, and ready to take bold steps toward their futures.

โœจ What an incredible day of empowerment, confidence, and creativity at SWAG Day at Karns Academy! โœจ

On April 26th, Servant Hearts, Inc. and J's Makeup Artistry had the honor of collaborating with Mrs. Windy Hancock (McKinney-Vento) to bring the vision of โ€œLevel Up: Empowering Confidence, Choices, and Creativityโ€ to life.

Thanks to the servant leadership work of our amazing vendors, volunteers, school leadership, and sponsors, over 55 students and families experienced a day filled with motivation, community connections, free resources, and real encouragement to dream big.

๐ŸŒŸ What students said:

โœ… "The speakers made me feel like I can do anything!"
โœ… "I learned how to be confident and set real goals for myself."
โœ… "The free prom shop and giveaways made us feel important and special."

We are filled with gratitude for everyone who made SWAG Day a success:
๐Ÿ’– A huge thank you to Mrs. Windy Hancock, for her vision and support,
๐Ÿ’– Emily Counter, Willey Woods, and Assistant Principal Mr. Neff for their leadership and presence,
๐Ÿ’– Our amazing Board of Directors at Servant Hearts, Inc., for believing in this mission, (Dawn Davis Gallon, Sierra Gallon, Mileena Marie, Shirley Short, Dr Christi Monk, and Dr. Deidre Randle-Hurst)
๐Ÿ’– The dedicated volunteers who showed up with bright smiles and servant hearts, (Lorraine Hammond, Kriscendra Baptiste (and Di'Angel), Jor'Dan Williamson, Elijah Evans, Mr. Patrick Hancock, Sandra Havel, The Gatlin Family, and Kevin Godwin).
๐Ÿ’– Our outstanding vendors and community partners who poured into our students - Street Prophets Clothing, Footlocker, Inc., Cynthia's ONE BITE Delight Food Truck, Bellus Academy, J's Makeup Artistry, Geary Riley Saline Alumnae Chapter- Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Junction City Workforce Center, Konza Prairie Community Health Center, Central Kansas Ruff Ryders, Key Office Products of Junction City, and Marco's Pizza.

Together, we created an atmosphere where students felt SEEN, SUPPORTED, and EMPOWERED to LEVEL UP in their journeys.

This is only the beginning! ๐ŸŒฑ

Stay tuned for whatโ€™s next โ€” because when community comes together, greatness grows.

So, Patty and I have been friends for a long time and have done several community service projects together as members and sisters of Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE #830), and when I called her about SWAG Day at Karns Academy, she said, "Come to Dillion's."

I arrived and we chatted a bit. She had already purchased 80 bottles of water for the students' lunch and had the receipt taped to the water.
๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿช

Thank you, Patty, for your support of Servant Hearts, Inc., ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’›and the students at HD Karns Academy! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™
