For me it really began at the age of 5 years old with a Shetland pony named “Princess” (yes, go ahead and laugh). She did her best to dump you anyway she possibly could, so you had to get creative and learn very quickly! I was hooked and was fortunate enough that my parents were supportive and bought me my first horse at the age of 8. This started a life long passion for horses, riding, learning, and teaching. I have given riding lessons and helped people work with their horses for 25 years. In high school I would halter break yearlings, help with a breeding operation, and exercise horses during the Summers for Wally Butler in Kendrick, Idaho. When I wasn’t working for Wally I was taking English riding and jumping lessons, attending local shows and play-days, and learning the fine art of pulling a mane! Every experience along the way has influenced my teaching and training techniques. I never stop learning and regularly attend clinics and workshops as often as I can. Every horse is different and you can never have too many tools in your tool box!
After much encouragement from friends, family, and fellow horse trainers, I decided to make it official and became a Certified Riding Instructor through Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) and launch Timber View Ranch, LLC. Our purpose here at Timber View Ranch is to help fill the need for Riding Instructors and to provide high quality horse training for our local communities. We are one of the only facility to offer lesson horses and the only CHA Certified Riding Instructor in a 90 mile radius. We would love the opportunity to help you with your riding goals!
Our training program is a combination of 25 years of life experience and a strong sense of dedication to helping people and horses. One of the best gifts we can give our equine companions is the gift of good ground manners and proper training. This not only makes us happier as horse owners, but our horses now have a foundation that will serve them their entire lives no matter where they may end up. The connection between horse and rider is critical to a successful relationship, whatever your riding discipline may be. Whether your horse needs to be properly conditioned, tuned-up, ground manners improved, desensitizing, or you have a “project” horse, we would love to help you with your training needs.
Thank you!
