After several years of growth, grant development, community programming, and business support initiatives, Sedgwick County Economic Development is seeking its next Executive Director.
Current Executive Director, Cassie Kizer has shared her desire to transition into a more supportive role within the organization. While she plans to remain involved with projects, community initiatives, and assistance within the SCED building, this transition will allow her to dedicate more time to growing her small businesses and pursuing other entrepreneurial opportunities.
As a result, SCED is seeking a motivated and community-minded leader to help guide the organization into its next chapter.
The Executive Director serves as the primary representative of SCED and works alongside the Board of Directors, local businesses, community organizations, government entities, and regional partners to support economic growth and opportunity throughout Sedgwick County.
We are seeking someone who can:
• Lead strategic planning and economic development initiatives
• Manage grants, funding programs, and reporting requirements
• Support local businesses, entrepreneurs, and workforce development efforts
• Coordinate community programs, workshops, and community events
• Build strong partnerships throughout the region
• Oversee daily operations of the SCED office and business incubator building
• Direct marketing, communications, and community outreach efforts
• Work closely with the Board of Directors to advance organizational goals
Preferred qualifications include experience in economic development, nonprofit leadership, business development, grant writing, project management, or related fields.

• Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Financial and project management experience
• Relationship-building and collaboration skills
• Initiative, adaptability, and a passion for community growth
Position Details:
Part-Time Position
Annual Salary: $33,600
Reports to: SCED Board of Directors
