Most of you know me as a small business owner. I, along with my wife Crystal, have owned and operated The Tradin' Post Pawn and Guns in Pleasanton since 2011. We also own The Tradin' Post Pawn and Guns of Three Rivers.
Pleasanton has been good to us over the past 14 years. We have raised our children here, attend church here, and we have been afforded the ability to carve out a better living than we deserve here.
For those reasons, I want to give back to the city that has treated us so well. The best way I can think of to repay Pleasanton, is by participating in its city government. As a result, I have decided to run for Pleasanton City Council District 1.
There are no prerequisites to serving on the city council, save the ability to vote and being a resident of the district itself. It is important though that we understand what qualifications "would be politicos" have in order to make better decisions at the ballot box.
I have an Associates Degree in Art and a Bachelors Degree in Political Science (I know I'm surprised myself!). I have attended the University of North Texas, The University of Texas and The University of the Incarnate Word. I worked a full time job and had a family while completing large portions of my degrees. I am an FFL holder, I have a CLASS 3 SOT, a Texas State Pawnbrokers License (more than one) a License to Carry a Handgun and I am licensed to adopt children in the state of Texas. So Ive had a few background checks! I am also ordained to perform marriages and funerals (the ultimate background check).
I am a regular attendee of Pleasanton's city council meetings, I am on the Zoning and Planning Commission for Pleasanton and I am on the Pleasanton Municipal Airport Advisory Board. I am not a stranger to our city's government.
I think it is important that we participate in city government. With out participation we may not understand why municipalities make the decisions they do; and that is a key position of your districts city council member, to help you understand. Members also vote on city government matters, help with budgets, influence other city officials and act as liaisons between the public and the city.
I hope you will consider me when voting for Pleasanton Texas City Council District 1. More to come...
