Transition Joshua Tree Creating Resilient & Sustainable Mojave Desert Communities Joshua Tree is the 96th Transition Initiative in the United States.

The Transition Movement is a vibrant, international, grassroots movement that seeks to build community resilience in the face of such challenges as decreasing access to cheap fossil fuels, climate change and the economic crisis. It represents one of the most promising ways of engaging people in strengthening their communities against the effects of these challenges, resulting in a life that is more abundant, fulfilling, equitable and socially connected.

Example of a Sonoran Desert food (and medicine) forest with plants that help shade and mutually support each other. "Plant" those rainwater harvesting earthworks first, then add cisterns (that can overflow to those places) as needed/as affordable. Slow food, good work, big results.
