We are all walking billboards. We have logos on our clothes with brand names on everything from our underwear to our hats and shoes.
The thing that is the most interesting is how many times we buy something that the focus of the item is advertising for a company or group.
Sports jerseys and clothes, car t- shirts and beer shirts. It's all advertising something.
I am really cautious about what I am advertising, because people are looking. That is why companies spend so much on advertising.
I like to advertise for Jesus. I have t-shirts and hoodies that hopefully encourage people and make them think about things that are bigger than this world.
I have had some great conversations about the clothes that I am wearing.
Since we are all advertising something... How about advertising for Jesus?

I have been thinking about what Christmas day means to me.
It really means new beginnings.
Jesus birth, His incarnation, was the beginning of so many new chapters.
It was the start of a new covenant between God and man.
It was the start of a new life as Jesus was born.
It was the start of every spiritual rebirth of every person throughout history.
It was the start of who I am becoming!
When I chose to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior, it changed the trajectory of every part of my family for generations to come!
Thank you Jesus for a day to remember what You did!

The Lord has been talking to me lately about not judging.
Mainly not judging salvation. The problem is that I can't see people's hearts like He can.
Jesus pointed out many times that the people the world celebrates and thinks are doing great works for the Lord, may not even know Him! At the same time the least known on earth, may be the greatest in Heaven.
I think this is why Paul tells us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. Not because we need to fear God, but because we need to fear living a life of self deception.

I have been reading the stories of the feeding of the 5000 and the feeding of the 4000 found in the book of Mark in the Bible. Both of these stories are events where Jesus supernatually provided food for thousands of people from a few loaves of bread a some dried fish.
Something new struck me this time.
The disciples, as I often do, missed the point.
When Jesus fed the 5000+ in Mark 35-44, the disciples missed a big lesson. While the second event recorded in Mark 8:1-10 is similar, the disciples had seen what Jesus did the last time when He had fed 5000. They knew that He was able to expand the food and fill the need. However, they still misunderstood and thought He was asking them to provide all the food.
In Mark 8:4 the disciples reply to Jesus who had commented that the people needed fed, "How are WE supposed to find enough food to feed them out here in the wilderness?"
Jesus response should have been a great reminder that He wasn't looking for what they could do, but what they would offer.
Verse 5 "How much bread do you have?"
This is one of the greatest lessons I have learned and am now trying to live.
Jesus does not need me to help, provide or work harder for Him. He just needs me to show up and offer what I have. He will turn it into whatever He needs from there.
What a relief!
Praise the One who can make all things new!
His yoke is easy and His burden is light!

God's plan is really simple.
God creates beautiful things, and then man tries to make something "better".
I did it for years.
It is only been the last few years as I have began to understand that God is love and truth. From both of those things comes His mercy, grace and forgiveness.
As I am learning to trust the Holy Spirit to renew and transform my mind, my actions change because of the changes happening in my heart and mind.
I definitely am a work in progress... But, the progress from who I was, is only possible by the Hand of God!

The problem that we are all dealing with is very simple, and as always the answer comes from God through His word.
Ezekiel 20:13 "They wouldn't obey my regulations even though obedience would have given them life."
Matthew 22:37-40"Jesus replied,"You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important; love your neighbor as yourself. The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments."
If I would obey Jesus' words, my life and the world around me would be different.
Nothing else will change the direction of this Country, or the world, besides renewed faith in Jesus Christ.

Matthew 3:15 "But Jesus said, "It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires. " So John agreed to baptize him."
Jesus was so obedient to the Father and showing how to advance the Kingdom that He was baptized for sins that He would never commit.
Papa, this is a bit scary... Show me how to surrender like Jesus!

I realized this morning that this life, this place, this planet is not my home, at least not now.
When I chose to follow Jesus, my home became Heaven and I have a natural, internal longing to be in my true home with my Savior!
I think that this is where a lot of the internal struggle I feel comes from.
The battle between what is, and what should be.

Do you want to know what meekness is?
Meekness is Jesus choosing to be beaten, insulted and nailed to a cross... Instead of calling all of the heavenly armies to save Him.
That is truly the kind of power I want to live in!
Where I stay calm, and remain under the Holy Spirit's power, in whatever I am facing.
I am not there yet. But, I am thankfully a lot closer than I was.
Thank you Jesus!
Can I get an amen?
