Yesterday was a really good day! Our son Nick's heavenly Birthday plus I got to meet some very instrumental people at GTCUW #988 (Greater Twin Cities United Way) that support, and make sure the best outcome possible while servicing #988 calls locally. The Nickel Open was proud to have donated a check to them to continue helping people that use #988. Thank you to Shannon Smith Jones, newly appointed Chief Impact Officer & Carolina De Los Rios, Director of #988 for receiving our donation.
Attached is some current data from the first six months of 2026 plus total calls from 2025 compared to 2024 on the impact of #988 in MN. What the Nickel Open is doing to bring more awareness to mental health and su***de prevention is defintely working. Thank you to all our donors and supporters especially those from our last event, 9th Annual Golf/Banquet held on June 27.

A successful 9th Annual Nickel Open Golf Tournament & Banquet Thanks to a packed house at Ridges At Sand Creek, all the Players, all the Sponsors/Supporters and especially all the Volunteers!
At the end of 2025 we surpassed $250k donations to NAMI-MN ironically in time for America's 250th Anniversary Celebration. Plus Saturday night we raised over $26k in less than 10 min to support the great things #988 has done and continues to do. A recent NY Times article described it as an average of 11% reduction in su***des youths across the US, which is ~4400 lives saved this past year due to .

A quick highlight surrounding mental health: recently the New York Times reporting showed that since the launch of the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, U.S. su***de rates have declined by 11% mainly in youths —representing thousands of lives potentially saved. The goal of Nickel Open has been to spread this awareness and share this number publically whenever and wherever.
