Since COVID, your Joplin Professional Firefighters have missed the opportunity to hit the streets and Fill the Boot for MDA. Tonight, we proudly brought back this time-honored tradition!

Join us again Labor Day weekend, Friday through Monday, at the Walmart on West 7th Street in Joplin. Help us build a brighter future for our cherished MDA families, creating smiles, supporting life-changing research, and finding cures one donation at a time.

Our MDA families will always hold a special place in our hearts, especially Makayla.

The strength of the IAFF 2nd District was on full display this week at the 58th IAFF Convention. Our exceptional team of labor leaders stood together, conducted the important business of our union, and helped shape the path forward for our great IAFF.

A special congratulations to Brother Trevor Towey on receiving the 2nd District Leadership Award—well-deserved recognition of his outstanding leadership, dedication, and service to our members.

Congratulations as well to Brother Dennis Murray, who was recognized for his remarkable 49 years of service as President of the Professional Fire Fighters of Eastern Missouri, Local 2665. His nearly five decades of leadership, commitment, and service to his membership represent an extraordinary legacy within the IAFF.

I could not be prouder of this team or more honored to serve alongside them. ALL IN for the IAFF! 🇺🇸🇨🇦🔥

Congratulations, Trevor! Your hard work and leadership were instrumental in helping us secure the passage of Proposition Police and Fire this past April. We sincerely appreciate your continued support and commitment to the Joplin Professional Firefighters Association, IAFF District 2, and IAFF affiliates.

At the IAFF Convention in Arlington, TX, in front of more than 2,000 fire fighters and labor leaders from all over North America, our own local president here in Omaha, Trevor Towey, was recognized with the 2026 IAFF Local Leadership Award.

Trevor is not only a great labor leader and fire fighter here in Omaha - he helps out professional fire fighters all over the country advocate for safety issues that directly impact citizens everywhere. We could go on and on about his altruistic nature, desire to help others, and dedication to serving others both on and off-duty, but we’ll just say that it’s amazing one of our own from here in Omaha in a union with more than 340,000 members is being recognized with such a prestigious award.
