Dig Into a Great Book This Summer! 🦖📚

Our 2026 Summer Library Program is almost here, and we can’t wait to welcome students and families for a summer full of reading, creativity, STEM activities, games, prizes, and more!

📖 Open to all students entering Pre-K through 6th grade

Joplin NALA wants to thank the former owners of Southside Antiques for their generosity over the years! It has been a privilege to work with the previous owners of Southside and their mission to help local non-profits in the Joplin community.
We are moving out...but not before a BIG SALE!

Would you like the chance to help give back to your community and those in need of support?
NALA is just the place for you!
We are looking for tutors and classroom teachers to help guide and support our learners on their adventure to grow their literacy skills!
Our volunteers can work one-on-one or in a classroom setting with students who are working toward building a better life through their literacy skills. We have students who need help with a wide variety of subjects such as reading, writing, math, science, English as a second language, and more!
No teaching experience is required! We will help train you and NALA has access to a large curriculum collection that our students and tutors use free-of-charge.

*EDIT* Literacy Liftoff will be happening THURSDAY, AUGUST 6TH

MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW!

Joplin NALA's 6th Annual Literacy Liftoff will be August 6th at MSSU! A big THANK YOU to MSSU for hosting NALA again this year!

We are so excited to be brining back this wonderful and FREE event to the Joplin community! This year we will be offering hot air balloon rides, inflatables for kids, water games, a table of raffle items, and have our nonprofit partners setting up to give away goodies!

Be on the lookout for more information and details as we get closer! We are looking forward to having a wonderful time with you all, and brining awareness to illiteracy in our community!

Jim is a hardworking tutor for NALA! He comes in every week excited to work with his students and help them achieve their educational goals!

Jim has been a great volunteer for NALA, and will always step up for anything NALA needs. He is always looking for ways to be a better tutor for his students and he works hard to make them feel comfortable and confident in the classroom.

We are so thankful for all our volunteers, and will continue to showcase the amazing people that NALA gets to work with everyday!

WE LOVE OUR VOLUNTEERS!

We are so excited to give recognition to Ashlyn! Ashlyn teaches our Monday/Wednesday afternoon ESL class, on top of being a full time student at OCC. We are so thankful that Ashlyn takes the time to volunteer with NALA in the midst of her busy schedule. She always puts her students needs first and looks out for all of their best interest.

DON'T FORGET! Financial Wellness Workshop THIS THURSDAY!

US Bank is partnering with Joplin NALA to provide a Financial Literacy workshop for anyone who needs guidence or has any questions about budgeting, spending, or any other banking needs!

Join us this Thursday from 10am-11am! There is no sign up needed. Just come and work one-on-one with a banking professional!

Continuing with Volunteer Appreication Month, we are highlighting Eric!

Eric teaches a beginning English class, a civics class, and steps up whenever anyone needs one-on-one tutoring!

We are so grateful to Eric and all the work he does for NALA! Eric is an outstanding Joplin citizen helping with several other orgainizaitons in Joplin and surrounding communities. We want to give a BIG thank you to Eric for all the time he has put into NALA's mission of closing the book on illiteracy.
