Last week in Lamar, we celebrated everyone who has completed Life Skills classes or Case Management in our Community Development department!

Our classes cover financial literacy, budgeting, housing resources, and various healthy living practices, helping participants reach their goals and build confidence in their personal, professional, and home lives. Many participants have been able to find stable housing after experiencing homelessness, pursue higher education, find employment, and surpass goals they once thought were out of reach❗️

⭐️ To represent how they are “reaching beyond the stars,” participants wrote one of their next goals in life on a balloon before releasing it into the sky. Goals included things like “get a car,” “start a savings account,” and “get a new job.”

The celebration was also a chance for everyone to spend quality time together, enjoy good food, play games, and win giveaways, many of which were generously donated by community partners, including free meals from local restaurants.

❤️ We are so proud of everyone’s journeys, hard work, and all they continue to accomplish!

Thank you so much, Iconex, for choosing our agency’s Head Start program to support! Yesterday, we received a generous $10,000 donation, which will help 10 classrooms between Joplin and Webb City enhance their learning resources for children. ✏️ Our Head Start teachers want to specifically use this donation to purchase math, literacy, and language supplies from their wishlists! ☺️📚

Iconex is known for focusing on giving back to local community organizations, and we were excited to learn that they chose Head Start after recommendations from their own employees! Iconex employees advocated for supporting our program after having positive connections to Head Start.

We are so grateful and appreciative, Iconex. THANK YOU‼️

Our agency’s Community Action Ride System (CARS) program has received a $10,000 grant from the Arvest Foundation!

This support will help CARS continue providing free transportation services to residents across our 4-county service area, connecting individuals and families to the resources and opportunities they need.
