National Service Dog Month-

We are sharing some wonderful news regarding one of our Chapter members. Sharon Arner, who serves as our full-time Department Service Officer, was interviewed alongside her service dog, Charlie, in recognition of National Service Dog Month.

We are proud to highlight her dedication and the impactful role service dogs play in supporting our veteran community.

Today, DAV celebrates 106 years of serving America's veterans.

Founded on Sept. 25, 1920, in the aftermath of World War I, DAV was created by wounded and disabled veterans who believed no one should have to fight alone after returning home. They came together to advocate for the benefits they had earned, support one another and ensure future generations of veterans would have someone in their corner.

More than a century later, that mission remains as important as ever. Thanks to the dedication of our members, volunteers, supporters and partners, DAV continues to provide a lifetime of support to veterans, their families, caregivers and survivors.

Monthly Meeting was held on 22 September 2026.

During the session, the membership addressed several key agenda items.

We shared general updates on upcoming initiatives and formally voted to approve several important financial matters to support our ongoing operations.

The Commander made an additional duty appointment of Office Manager's Assistant.

Additionally, the Commander spoke on the vital role of Teamwork in achieving our goals and objectives and maintaining being the Number 1 Chapter in Missouri.

The Commander administered the Obligation (Oath) to new members of our Chapter, and led ALL present in reaffirming their shared commitment to the mission of the Disabled American Veterans organization.

Several members from DAV Chapter 52 and DAVA Unit 52 attended the Department of Missouri DAV and DAVA Fall Conference in Branson, Missouri, on September 11–12, 2026.

The conference was informative and productive, featuring an address by DAV National Commander John Donovan. Notably, our chapter received official approval for new vehicles for our Chapter's transportation network. This addition will enhance our capability to assist local Veterans with transportation to their medical appointments.

Also, with the prior approval of the this Chapter's membership a donation of $15,000 was made to the DAV Department of Missouri Transportation Fund by this Chapter.

Twenty-five years later, we remember.

Today on Patriot Day, we honor the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, and the countless families, first responders, servicemembers and communities forever changed by that day.

In the days and years that followed, a generation of Americans answered the call to serve. For DAV, that meant standing alongside veterans and families whose lives were forever shaped by the wars that followed—and continuing to serve them long after they returned home.

Immediately following the Sept. 11 attacks, DAV mobilized to assist with the relief efforts. Manhattan-based NSOs volunteered at the Giants Stadium, the Javits Center and the ruins of the World Trade Center. On Sept. 21, DAV established an office at the Family Relief Center on Pier 94 alongside a host of other agencies. From this location, with the assistance of the FBI, New York fire and police departments, and the companies located in the World Trade Center, NSOs identified veterans and their families who were victims of the attacks and provided whatever assistance they could.

Today, we remember those we lost, honor those who served and continue to stand with the veterans and families whose lives were shaped by the events of Sept. 11. We will never forget.

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of one of our volunteer drivers, Charles N. "Charlie" Brown. Charlie was born on August 14, 1943, and passed away on August 13, 2026.

Charlie was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served honorably during the Vietnam War. We are deeply grateful for his service to our country and his dedicated 7.5 years as a DAV Transportation Volunteer Driver with our organization. He will be greatly missed.

The August monthly Chapter meeting was held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, with an excellent turnout of members. During the session, several important subjects were discussed and voted upon.

Additionally, our Commander administrated several new members their DAV obligation. Our Commander also made some official appointments, and an Commendation Award was presented.
