It is with great sadness that we report the passing of one of our volunteer drivers, Charles N. "Charlie" Brown. Charlie was born on August 14, 1943, and passed away on August 13, 2026.

Charlie was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served honorably during the Vietnam War. We are deeply grateful for his service to our country and his dedicated 7.5 years as a volunteer driver with our organization. He will be greatly missed.

The August monthly Chapter meeting was held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, with an excellent turnout of members. During the session, several important subjects were discussed and voted upon.

Additionally, our Commander administrated several new members their DAV obligation. Our Commander also made some official appointments, and an Commendation Award was presented.

On this , DAV encourages you to take a moment to reflect on the brave individuals who’ve been wounded or made the ultimate sacrifice in service. Without their bravery and resiliency, we wouldn’t have many of the freedoms that we practice today. Do you know any Purple Heart recipients? We encourage you to pay tribute to them in the comments below.

This Independence Day, we honor the generations of veterans who defended the promise of America, sometimes at great personal cost. For 250 years, disabled veterans have carried the weight of freedom long after the battle ended. DAV is proud to stand beside them every step of the way.

Today, as fireworks light the sky, remember the men and women who made this day possible. Happy Independence Day from DAV. 🎆

The monthly meeting on June 23, 2026, was conducted with a great turnout. Various significant topics were deliberated and voted upon during the meeting.

The Commander made two key appointments:
Comrade Arner as Office Manager and
Comrade Purdy as Chapter Meal Coordinator.

The Commander awarded
Comrade Phillips a 25 Year Membership Pin.

The meeting concluded successfully.

The history of Juneteenth (also known as Freedom Day) dates back to 1865 in Texas, where the final enslaved people in America were declared free under the Emancipation Proclamation. Though its history is much older, it was declared an official federal holiday in 2021. DAV takes this holiday to reflect on the profound impact that Black veterans of the Civil War had and the sacrifices they made to make freedom a possibility for all Americans.
