On June 6, 1944, the U.S. and other Allied forces launched the D-Day attack—the largest amphibious invasion in history—storming the beaches of Normandy and turning the tide of World War II.
We remember the thousands who gave their lives that day, 82 years later, and we honor all who served in World War II—on the front lines and on the home front—whose courage secured the freedoms we know today.

The Department of Missouri DAV and DAVA Convention was attended by our Chapter Commander, Adjutant, SEC, and DAVA Unit SEC in Columbia, MO, on May 29-31, 2026.

On May 29, training and recertification for Chapter Service Officers were conducted. The morning of May 30 featured a ceremony to honor our deceased Comrades, with representatives from each Chapter and Unit in attendance.

Later that morning, State Executive Committee and business meetings were in session addressing key topics, including the selection board for Department-level officers for 2026-2027, followed by an evening dinner with newly elected Officer installation and closed the evening with a charity auction.

On the morning of May 31 a short SEC meeting was held ending the convention before all attending departed for home.

Our Chapter Commander was elected as Dept 2nd Junior Vice Commander.

May 2026 Chapter Meeting and Installation of Officers:

The Chapter's monthly meeting occurred on May 26, 2026, and featured the Installation of Officers and a delicious Fried Chicken dinner catered by Golden Corral Buffet & Grill

The guest of honor, the Adjutant for the Department of Missouri M. Elmore, administered the Oath of Office. Certificates were awarded to several members by Commander R. Selsor, who also presented the DAV Chapter 52 Meritorious Service Award to M. Elmore. The Chapter and DAVA Unit Commanders performed the ceremonial cake cutting.

April 2026 Monthly Meeting:

Our monthly meeting on Tuesday, 28 April 2026, witnessed excellent attendance and active participation from our members. Key matters regarding our Chapter's operations were deliberated and voted upon. Officer elections were also held, resulting in the following comrades being newly elected(N) or reelected(R):

On 24 March 2026, the Chapter's March monthly meeting featured recognitions and officer nominations.

Commander Selsor awarded Mr. C. Billy, owner of the Golden Corral Buffet & Grill ,Joplin, MO a Certificate of Appreciation and Chapter Challenge Coin in recognition of his outstanding corporate partnership.

Longevity Membership Pins were presented to five members:
S. Moore (40-year pin),
D. Scorse (35-year pin),
D. Glass (30-year pin),
B. Purdy (25-year pin),
S. Muhurin (20-year pin).

Nominations for the 2026-2027 term officers were conducted, with elections to follow during the Chapter's next meeting on 28 April 2026.
