Unity of Joplin Unity of Joplin's mission is to Educate, Encourage and Affirm Divine Freedom for all. We honor all Unity's 5 basic principles are:

Unity is a positive, practical, progressive approach to Spirituality based on the teachings of Jesus and the power of affirmative prayer. Unity honors the universal truths in all religions and respects each individuals right to choose their own spiritual path. God is Spirit, unbound by human definition of religion, One presence, One power, all good & everywhere present.
2. Jesus was a man who exp

ressed his divine potential and sought to teach all to do the same. We see Jesus as a wayshower and teacher. In Unity the word Christ is defined as the Divine Spark within all humans.
3. The nature of human beings is that we are each individual, eternal expressions of God. Our essential nature is divine and therefore inherently good. As we awaken spiritually we learn to co-create a world centered in love and light.
4. The Bible - is interpreted as a metaphysical representation of humankinds evolutionary journey toward spiritual awakening,
5. Prayer & Meditation- affirmative prayer is the highest form of thought. it includes the release of counterproductive, negative thoughts as well as holding in mind statements of spiritual truth. Through meditation we experience the presence of God. Through prayer and meditation we heighten our awareness and transform our lives. We believe that all people are created with sacred worth. We welcome all and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, age, creed, religion nor sexual orientation. God and Unity leave no one out.

We take this opportunity to call to mind the many Unity churches that sprang into action to help us relocate, rebuild, and recommit to Spirit's work in the life of Unity of Joplin after the 2011 tornado. We were never a building, but we have been blessed with two new-to-us ones that provided a strong foundation so that we could continue to build our collective one, and our personal ones after a time of great loss. Today is the fifteenth anniversary of that horrific event. We pray for the families who lost loved ones, for the displaced pets who found loving homes, and for Joplin itself, a community that has continued to show the country how strong the power of the human spirit really is. We give thanks. God is good, and we remain .

We are so grateful for the donations we receive for our free food pantry/Blessing Box. We are delighted to know that there are community members who randomly fill area boxes (including ours) as part of their personal giving back program. But the need is great and ongoing, and we would like your help keeping the box full with non-perishable food items. With schools ending, many children will miss out on a healthy lunch, often the main meal of their day. Let's all do our part to support our neighbors. You can simply place your donation in our box at Rex Ave. and E. 13th St. whenever you are out and about running errands. There is no need to check them in with a church member, just simply place the items on a shelf and know you are keeping the universal law of giving and receiving circulating. Thank you!

We pause in the knowingness that all things are working together for our good. The magnificent power of a loving God is guiding, encouraging, and supporting us in all of our daily affairs, and we give thanks. We are blessed and a blessing. The healing power of God is our strength today.

As we approach Mother's Day this Sunday, we pause in the awareness of all beings who have offered us support, love, and nurturing of our dreams and goals. This need not be our literal mother! It could be Mother Nature! It could be a mentor or teacher from your past. It might be a man who shared relationship advice with you, or it might be the Divine Mother, herself. Whoever these people are to you, honor them this week with a prayer, a note of thanks, or a journal entry of gratitude. We honor the Father/Mother God presence in each of us!

Get your merry month of May off to a centered start and join us tomorrow for our first Wednesday prayer service at 12 noon. We'll meet in person at the church, 3220 E. 13th St., but if you can't make it, just pause for a couple of minutes at noon and join us as we set the energy for positive prayer support.
