My precious Betty White. My heart is in a million pieces. I had to make the choice to let my sweet Betty cross the rainbow bridge this morning. From the day I got Betty I knew I would never let her suffer or be in pain. She has made continuous progress. Gained weight, loved her treats, ran circles in her room, got so excited when I came in. She wagged her tail and even made sure she came in the bathroom with me like all dogs, know thats when she has me captive for petting. Not one time was she ever in pain, unhappy, scared or anything but progressing to the dog I wished for her to be. This morning everything changed. With no warning she suffered a seizure that lasted an hour till we could get to the vet. By that time her temperature was 107. The best guess is that a piece of shrapnel had shifted and now causing the seizure. With the exposure to such a high temperature the vet felt there would be additional brain damage. Anyone that knows me, knows that I will never give up on a dog. I promised Betty that I would never give up on her but I would also never let her suffer. Letting her go was the only choice.
Thank you to everyone who donated money for Betty's care. Please know that the money will be used to help animals in Betty's honor in some way. We are trying to open a low cost spay/neuter clinic and it just may be called the Betty White Spay Neuter Clinic. My mind is not is a place to make any definite decisions today but the money will be used in some manner that Betty will never be forgotten.
I am beyond grateful that God chose me to take care of her. I pray that she knew how much she was loved by me and so many others. I know she was saved for a purpose. The purpose is not what I thought, but I know it will be revealed. Run free my sweet Betty, I miss you already.
