Breast Cancer Awareness Month is something personal to me.

It’s about Brooke. My sister loved Halloween. It was her favorite holiday. And on Halloween, we lost her after her battle with breast cancer.

That loss changed our family forever. But it also gave me a reason to turn that loss into something positive. That’s why Holidays for the Cure exists.

We started it to honor Brooke’s memory, but more importantly, to help other families avoid the kind of loss we experienced. Through education, awareness, and support for breast cancer screening and early detection, we want to help people find breast cancer earlier—when there can be more options and more hope.

I can’t change what happened to Brooke. But I can absolutely do something with what happened.

Every October, we get another opportunity to talk about breast cancer, encourage someone we love to get screened, share information, and remind people that early detection matters.

That’s what this month means to me.

It’s remembering Brooke.

It’s helping someone else.

And it’s turning memory into purpose.
