Days for Girls Jonesboro AR Team recently met up with our friends from Days for Girls Rogers AR Chapter to share some items needed for menstrual health kits. Jonesboro team leader, Ashley Soo Allen shared 136 panties, 6 drawstring bags, 155 washcloths, 19 carry pouches, and 28 liners that had all been collected or made by the Presbyterian Women group at First Presbyterian Church of Jonesboro, Arkansas. These items will go on to part of kits distributed in Arkansas and around the world by Days for Girls International.

Last week our team sent 150 washcloths to be part of this humanitarian effort for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria, thanks to a donation from the Presbyterian Women group at First Presbyterian Church of Jonesboro, Arkansas. If you’d like to contribute to this effort, please comment below or send us a message.

Together with Americares, Lifting Hands International and The Global Empowerment Mission, Days for Girls is working to provide 4,800 DfG Hybrid Kits to those affected by the recent earthquakes in Turkiye 🇹🇷 and Syria 🇸🇾.

Over 43,000 people have died across the region, and more than 13 million people have been impacted in Turkiye alone.

Periods don’t stop for disasters, and our Hyrbid Kits, complete with disposable and washable pads bring relief and dignity to girls and women in the effected region.

We express our deepest condolences to all those affected by the earthquakes. 🙏

We could not do everything we do without the amazing Linda Henry Williams. She cuts. She sews. She washes. She dries. She irons. She is our tireless cheerleader and faithful friend. Thank you, Linda, for everything you do for Days for Girls International.

I saw photos of women in other countries sewing Days for Girls products in antique machines and thought, “I wonder how well that really works.” So I whipped out Sasha, my Singer 99 and I’m loving sewing shields on this classic.

If you sew, you’ll recognize this as a hopelessly tangled “bird’s nest” that’s going to have to be cut, picked apart, and the bobbin re-threaded. Some days are like that.
This seemed like the perfect metaphor for all our team has worked through over the last two years. We formed right before COVID-19 hit the U.S. and so things were very slow going for awhile. At every snarl, our volunteers have patiently started again. That persistence has paid off and we can’t wait to show you the fruits of our labor of love for Days for Girls International.
