Discover the Rich History of Jackson Parish!

Jackson Parish is fortunate to have a true treasure in our community—the Jackson Parish Museum and Fine Arts Association.

The museum is open to the public on the first and third Saturday of each month, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, or by special appointment upon request.

Inside, you’ll find a wealth of history that highlights the people, places, and events that have shaped our parish. It’s an incredible educational experience for both children and adults, and a meaningful way to connect with our local heritage.

One of the museum’s most impressive exhibits features former two-term Governor Jimmie Davis, a native son of Jackson Parish and an important figure in Louisiana history.

We encourage you to take time to visit the Jackson Parish Museum—bring your family, your students, or just yourself. There’s something inspiring for everyone.

To schedule a special tour outside of regular hours, please contact the museum directly.

On April 3, 2025, the Jackson Parish Museum and Fine Arts Association in Jonesboro hosted a well-attended book signing event for Robert “Bob” Mann’s latest work, You Are My Sunshine: Jimmie Davis and the Biography of a Song. The event drew a large crowd of community members eager to celebrate the legacy of Jimmie Davis, a native son of Jackson Parish.

Attendees had the opportunity to meet Mann, a distinguished author known for his extensive writings on Louisiana’s political history. His new book delves into the origins and impact of the iconic song “You Are My Sunshine” and its association with Jimmie Davis, who leveraged his musical fame into a political career, serving two terms as Louisiana’s governor.

The museum, located at 515 South Cooper Avenue, serves as a repository of local history and art, with a dedicated annex honoring Jimmie Davis’s contributions. The success of this event underscores the community’s enduring pride in Davis’s legacy and highlights the museum’s role in preserving and celebrating the cultural heritage of Jackson Parish.

Pictured below are our oldest and youngest veterans who attended, representing the generations of service and sacrifice that protect our freedoms.”
