💚 Jones, thank you.
After a day like yesterday, we Kiwanians are taking a much-needed day of rest. While we do that, we want to take a minute to simply say thank you.
Longhorn Day reminded us how special this community can be when people come together and decide to make something happen.
To our sponsors, vendors, volunteers, entertainers, sound crew, city employees, school partners, service clubs, students, families, community organizations, and everyone who gave their time, resources, talents, or support: you made this day possible.
Some of our favorite moments weren't on the schedule, but in the countless small ways we watched people show up for one another throughout the day. Even after such a busy event, there was remarkably little trash left behind because you took care of our park.
Those moments mattered.
Reimagining Old Timers' Day as Longhorn Day was never simply about changing a name. We wanted to honor the community that built Jones while creating something we can continue handing down to the next herd in line. Yesterday gave us our first glimpse of what that can look like.
Was it hot? Good grief, yes. 😂 Thank you to everyone who sweated with us and still stayed, volunteered, shopped, ate, played, and enjoyed the day.
We’ve heard your feedback about what you loved and where we can improve, and we hope you’ll keep it coming. We’re already taking notes and using your perspective to make next year’s Longhorn Day even better.
Thank you for trusting a bunch of volunteers with an idea, for showing up, for taking care of one another and our park, and for helping us begin a new chapter of a very old Jones tradition.
We're tired. We're sunburned. We're incredibly grateful.
With love and gratitude,
Kiwanis Club of Jones
