Tip # 29: Developing homework routines is important!

For some children, developing a homework routine can be a big hurdle when navigating school. Although not every child benefits from the same routine, they are still helpful to establish. Here are a few tips to help your child stay on top of homework this school year:

-Schedule a set time for homework.

-Create a dedicated homework space. Consistency is key when creating healthy habits!

-Encourage helpful organizational habits such as checklists and dedicated subject folders.

-Limit electronic distractions during homework time. Distractions like TV and video game noise can make it hard for children to stay on track.

This week, the Y had the opportunity to present a donation of $793.02 to the Lil Loves Ministry program at Messiah Lutheran Church, which provides essential baby items to families in need throughout Joliet and the surrounding communities.

This donation was made possible by Teen REACH and Summer Day campers, who collected funds by hosting concessions and participating in events like Pay to Pie Your Counselor Day. These efforts helped the campers learn the value of teamwork, improve their organizational skills, and promote kindness in their community. ❤️ What a great summer it has been!
