Wreaths Across America takes place Saturday, Dec 19, 2026 this year. The event begins with an 11am ceremony at the flagpole at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Complex. Wreath placement takes place immediately following.

Today we remember LCPL Curtis John Krauhs of Springfield, Illinois, who fell on this day in 1968. Curtis is remembered by his 3rd grade penpal, Dominic:

"I was a third grader and we sent letters to the soldiers in Vietnam. He returned my letter and we exchanged two or three others. I grew up thinking he had returned home. Years later I took my students on a class trip to DC. I saw his name in the journal and cried my eyes out."
