We are in the final stretch for dd's DISCOUNTS in-store donations! Until August 30, the store at 1500 N. Larkin Avenue, Joliet will be collecting donations for Easterseals Jumpstart Program. All donations will go directly to help get new books from . Do your part and stop by dd's! 🙂

When school ends, support shouldn't end too.

Every year, young people with disabilities and their families face a difficult transition as they move from school-based services into adulthood. Medicaid-funded disability services help bridge that gap so young adults can pursue jobs, continue learning, and live more independently.

This support gives people the opportunity to build the future they've worked so hard for. Join us in telling Congress to protect these services.

For 15 years, Kristin Kappel has been part of the Easterseals Joliet community, growing her career as an occupational therapist while finding new ways to support the children and families we serve.

What keeps her coming back each day? Seeing the excitement on her clients’ faces when they arrive for therapy—and making sure they’re having fun while working hard! She also appreciates the opportunity to learn from her caring and supportive coworkers.

Over the years, she’s worked in outpatient therapy, schools, autism diagnostic services and Early Intervention—describing it as having “seven jobs all within this one job!”

Outside of Easterseals, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two kids and their rescue pup, Sophie. Her family loves evening walks, pickleball and, lately, spending time on the golf course together.

Her advice? “In a world where you can be anything, be kind.” And that spirit of kindness is exactly what she sees in the Easterseals Joliet community.

We’re so grateful for the experience, dedication and heart Kristin brings to Easterseals Joliet every day! 💙

We dodged the rain and had a great evening for Guns & Hoses yesterday! The Firefighters came away victorious this year but if you ask us, we all win when our community comes together in support of programming for children and adults with disabilities. 🎉💕 Our gratitude to Joliet Slammers, Joliet Fire Department & Joliet Police Department for their roles in this incredible day for our community!

Yesterday, State Representative Larry Walsh Jr. stopped by Easterseals Regional Pediatric Center and Community Day Services! He brought along State of Illinois coloring books to share with the children and adults we serve and took time to visit and connect with our participants.
