Red and yellow and pink and blue...words to the tune of a children's song but also the colors of flags used to help identify underground utilities.
This little guy, who one day might do some excavating, knows that the yellow flag means that natural gas, oil, or petroleum lines are buried below. It is never too early to teach your family to call JULIE before you start to dig.

The 2026 safe digging season continues to set records for JULIE! Locate requests this May made it the busiest May in our 51-year history and the third-busiest month overall.

From garden beds to deck posts, always allow at least 3 working days’ notice so underground utilities can be marked and your project can stay safe and damage-free.

Call 811 or submit your request online before you dig...because hitting an underground utility line is one DIY moment you won't be able to brag about.
