Who says you have to travel far to have an adventure? Backyard or indoor camping is a simple way to break out of your usual routine and spend quality time together. Grab some blankets, tell stories, make your favorite camping snacks, and enjoy an evening focused on connection instead of screens.

Conversation starter: If you could camp anywhere in the world for one night, where would you choose and why?

Did you know? Most Illinois youth choose to be alcohol-free.

Underage drinking can put teens and others at risk, slow brain development, and impact important life decisions. The good news is that most Illinois youth report that drinking isn't cool—and they're making healthy choices every day.

Stay informed, know the facts, and be confident in who you are without alcohol.

When school is out for the summer, kids don’t get those everyday chances to see friends in the hallway or at lunch, so gaming often becomes one of the main ways they stay connected. Instead of focusing only on cutting back screen time, summer is a good time to think about balance, making sure gaming fits in with family time, being active, getting rest, and just enjoying the break. And when you can, hopping into a game with them can be a great way to connect, see what they enjoy, and have some fun together along the way.

With the Memorial Day Weekend upon us, the Will County Sheriff’s Office encourages everyone to take a moment to honor and remember the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

While we gather with friends and family to enjoy the long weekend, we ask all residents to celebrate safely and responsibly:
✅ Drive Sober – If you're planning to drink, plan a ride. Designate a sober driver or use a rideshare service.
✅ Buckle Up – Always wear your seatbelt and ensure children are properly secured.
✅ Slow Down – Increased traffic means increased risks. Obey speed limits and watch for pedestrians and motorcycles.
✅ Stay Alert – If you see something suspicious, say something. Our deputies will be out on patrol to help keep our communities safe.

Let’s honor our heroes by making safety a priority. From all of us at the Will County Sheriff’s Office, we wish you and your family a safe, peaceful, and meaningful Memorial Day Weekend.
