SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS TICKET EXCHANGE DATES ANNOUNCED
Tickets for the band's 43rd annual "𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘮𝘢𝘴" concert, to be held on Sunday, December 13th at 2:00 PM at the Rialto Square Theatre, will again be available in exchange for a generous donation of non-perishable food and/or paper products. Mark your calendars for these ticket exchange opportunities:

*RIALTO LOBBY (102 N. Chicago Street):
Monday, December 7th from 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM

*AMERICAN LEGION POST #1080 (2625 Ingalls Avenue):
Saturday, December 5th from Noon - 4:00 PM

As many of you know, 2026 marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Joliet American Legion Band (originally named the A.R. McAllister Memorial Band) by Archie McAllister, Jr. and William E. (Bill) Austin in 1946.

Obviously the band was formed well before any thought of the power of modern day social media ever existed. And today, with over 1,100 followers on this page, we thought it might be fun to see if any of our followers would be willing to share some of their favorite memories of and/or experiences with the band.

Regardless of how or why you became a facebook follower of the Joliet American Legion Band, we'd love to hear from you - so fire away!

Shortly after the band performed the "Armed Forces Salute" medley at yesterday's concert at St. Joe's Park, the band was honored to offer an additional tribute to a local Army veteran and former percussionist who played in the band in the 60s and 70s.

Mr. Don Kinley, a lifelong Plainfield resident, was surprised to learn that a few people had worked rather covertly to try to make this a memorable occasion for him. All those in attendance also sang "Happy Birthday" to Mr. Kinley in advance of his upcoming 90th birthday.

Mr. Kinley was invited to join the percussion section on "Stars and Stripes Forever" as the band closed out its performance. His son Dave handed him HIS sticks (which had been kept out of sight) and Mr. Kinley readily stepped forward to join us.

We could not have been more pleased to honor such a humble, gracious and talented man! The roots of the JALB family run deep - once a member, always a member. Have a very happy 90th birthday Mr. Kinley! 🎂🥁

The Joliet American Legion Band was pleased to be a small part of the many activities that were available at yesterday's Crest Hill Lions Club Luau & Car Show held at St. Joe's Park. A great time was had by all!

Don’t forget that the Joliet American Legion Band will kick off the musical entertainment portion of tomorrow’s event at St. Joe’s Park at NOON. We'll be set up on the west side of the park. Come on out and make a day of it!

Please help support the Sons of the American Legion, Post 1080 at this annual event. Very similar to the mission of the band, the purpose of the local SAL Squadron is to honor the service of military veterans and to support the American Legion in its mission to help veterans, their families, and local communities. Your participation would be greatly appreciated.

Believe it or not, the Holiday season will soon be knocking at our door. Our friends at the Rialto Square Theatre have helped kick off the promotion of the band's largest event of the season - the annual "Sounds of Christmas" concert. Stay tuned for further updates on the many ticket exchange opportunities that will be available prior to the concert as well as other important information.

The Joliet American Legion Band brings the sounds of the season to the Rialto Square Theatre on Sunday, December 13 at 2 PM!

🎟️ Admission is FREE with a generous donation of non-perishable food items.

Many of our fans have been loyal fans for many years and for that we are extremely grateful. And some are just born to be fans.
